This is a motorcycle friendly establishment. We were able to park the motorcycle under a deck out of the weather. Bike cleaning materials supplied by motel. Restaurants and bars within walking distance.

We stayed at the Chief Motel(and the Rocket Inn) and don't regret either one. This has a fantastic king bed and a HUGE TV. Whenever we walked back in from a tiring day of sightseeing, we came in to a very fresh smelling and clean room. Always had what we needed and didn't have to ask for any more. The owners take a lot of pride in their property and it was great that they gave us a pass for Custer State Park, which was one of the highlights of our trip.

My family and I stayed here for four nights. The motel is a little dated, but this added to the charm. Upon checking in, Bruce gave us a quick tour of the surrounding area. Since we were staying three or more nights we were allowed to use the pass for Custer State Park. My family and I will definitely come back. I would have gave them a 5/5 rating if they had on site breakfast. The motel has worked out a two dollar breakfast coupon at one of the diners down the road.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at the Chief Motel in June of 2013. We were in the Black Hills with our motorcycles, and the truck and trailer we used to haul our bikes to the area. The owners were extremely accommodating, and made sure we had a place to park all our vehicles. The room was clean, the bike parking under the deck came in very handy during a night of hail, and the $1.99 breakfast vouchers were a great money saver on our trip.

We travel a lot, and it's the little things that mean the most to us. This place has it; the 25 cent soda machine, a dry towel on my bike seat each morning, passes to Custer State Park, a fridge and microwave in the room, and a friendly couple who own the place.

I've worked in the hospitality business for 15 years, and as such, tend to notice small things others don't. There is pride in the ownership here, and it shows. If you're looking for a chain motel or 5 star accommodations, don't bother. If you're looking for a clean room you can park right outside of after a day of site seeing in the hills, or if you're on a bike and enjoy leaning back on the deck and meeting other folks on bikes? This is your place.

I will note that while several extra accommodations are given to those on motorcycles here, making it an especially friendly place for bikers, I would not hesitate one second bringing my children here during a family vacation. They would love the pool, and the owners encourage a family friendly environment.

We will be back!

Bit late putting this review on but we all thought this was the best place we stayed in our Out West trip a year or so back. The owners were so friendly and funny and helpful that we all want to go back if only to see the owners again... Everything was clean and very comfortable and the pool was amazing, so big. You could walk to all along the street which was lovely with lots of gifts and antique shops. If going to Mt Rushmore stay here. It is central for so many places. you will not be disappointed...

This motel was a wonderful surprise. Selected the motel on line driving to Custer SD. It was more than expected. Very Clean, excellent location and we were able to walk to dinner and breakfast, which is important when you are driving all day. The owners couldn't have been any nicer, they gave us wonderful suggestions and coupons to restaurants. Do not miss the Purple Pie shop, it not has wonderful fruit pie but excellent chicken pot pie. I would highly recommend this motel.

Stayed three nights attending the Buffalo Round-up. Room was very clean and comfortable. Owner and staff very friendly and helpful. Liked the designated parking right outside the room, and the chairs right outside your front door on the porch. Would definitely stay there again!
