This hotel added a new section. The older rooms are small. We checked in, we were given what I reserved (the only room left at the time of booking) as a 1 Queen room. It was so small we had to side step around the bed, old bathroom fixtures, an old wooden door with paper covering the "window" in the door; just very old. I was not happy about the room size so the kind registration person checked inventory and offered a king room with a balcony (of course we had to pay more for it) in the new section. Wow, what a difference; it was gorgeous. this is an OLD lodge so creaks and noises happen just because of age, even in the new section. a short drive down the road gets you to the lake which is also nice for just sitting and reading or walking the paths around the lake. The restaurant was nice, a bit of a jewel for the area. Our meals were very good, lake trout. No free breakfast so you have to eat in the restaurant or bring your own (we had brought instant oatmealand fruit). The staff includes seasonal students from various locations around the world so no one has real deep knowledge about things to do in the area, or amenities you may want to ask about but they make for a interesting staff who try to be accommodating.
