“good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013

I felt like this hotel was more of a "nice unique" motel. Stains in carpet, motel like bathroom, motel like beds, and cracked /stained walls....some brick, BUT it was in more of a natural run-down city way, which i kind of liked...not in a dirty cheap motel way, if that makes sense. It did have a wonderful location....easy to walk around and the BEST breakfast across the street, "Mother's".. homemade grits and cheap....back to the hotel...well, I was disappointed because I thought it would be a tiny bit more modern. However, it still got 3 stars because it did have sort of an ancient-feel to it and a few steps took me to the lobby (I was on ground level--maybe the other rooms were different?). Good choice if you want something cheap , good way to experience the city, and you are only using the room to sleep. No major complaints. NOT for you if you want the hotel experience.

You're right, Kelly: Every floor of our hotel is different, as is every room! Our building is a renovated coffee warehouse, which is what we think makes our facilities so unique. I hope you'll keep us in mind next time you're planning a trip to New Orleans; we'd love to have you back!

Safe travels,

I would most definitely return to the Ambassador hotel. Less than a block away from Harrah's and a quick 10 minute walk to the French Quarter, the location was incredible. The first night we got there (10/30/13) the young lady at the front desk was SO helpful and gave us awesome advice and saved us time and money by directing us to a much better haunted house then the one we had planned on going out to. The rooms themselves are adorable and have an old world charm to them, and in my opinion very spacious. The only issue I had was with parking - all the lots were quite expensive around the hotel - but that's a problem I run into every time I visit New Orleans.

I'm glad you were able to tour a haunted house when you were here, Anna. October is a great time to visit; you really can't beat Halloween in New Orleans! Have you ever been here during Mardi Gras? If not, you definitely should plan to come one year!

Best,

My husband and I wanted to get away for a quick weekend to New Orleans and catch a New Orleans Saints game. The location of the Ambassador is excellent to get around the city no matter what direction you go, the French Quarter, the Riverwalk, Uptown or the Superdome. The people working the weekend shift were very knowledgeable and friendly. The hotel was very clean and quaint. Overall it was a wonderful stay and we look forward to our next visit to the city. Go Saints!! Who Dat!

You had me at "Who Dat," Rachel! I'm glad you and your husband were able to catch a game while you were here. The only thing we love more than our Saints is reading thoughtful reviews from happy guests like you!

This is why you come to New Orleans, this boutique hotel has a great ambiance. With a great location in the Warehouse District it's close to Mother's Restaurant and close to Harrah's. The rooms all have flat screen TV's, comfortable beds, hardwood floors...it's just a great NOLA experience.

While the hotel itself is great, the staff is what sets this place above the rest. From Patrick the front desk manager, Richie, the front desk staff, the valet, the housekeepers...these people are professional! In the rare occasion there is a problem, they fix it promptly and with professionalism. For the money, you CAN'T beat the Ambassador.

Also if you want to catch a big game, the Extreme Sports Bar in the lobby is great!

We're thrilled to be your go-to hotel in New Orleans! The fact that you think our staff is what sets us apart from the rest is just the powdered sugar on the beignet. I have no doubt they'll be just as grateful for your recommendation as I am!

Until next time,
Richie

New Orleans has long been on my wish list, and I had the opportunity to finally visit last week (Oct 2013). Fantastic visit, and a lot to do with picking a hotel just a short walk from everything. Bourbon St. was nuts on the weekend, and it was with relief to find the streets near Ambassador nice and quiet! Great room on the top floor, with cool brick walls and really well done wood floors. From here we explored all the French Quarter (about 4 blocks east), took a free ferry over to Algiers Point (3 blocks south to the ferry terminal at Riverwalk, and hopped on the streetcar to explore the Garden District. That streetcar was really efficient, runs about every 5 or 10 minutes or so, and is just 4 blocks north of the hotel on St. Charles St. Overall, fantastic experience. There's some great restaurants in the neighborhood (warehouse/arts district), and a few good coffee shops too!
Just a small detail note: not a ceramic coffee cup or plate in the whole place, not even at breakfast. I understand it's not high end, but it's an old coffee warehouse, adding a bunch of decent coffee mugs would greatly enhance the in-room coffee and breakfast buffet thing!

Room Tip: Top floor, Tchoup st. side is quietest.

I'm so glad you finally made it to New Orleans! Reading that your stay at our hotel was key in making your visit "fantastic" just made my day. It certainly sounds like you hit all the hot spots while you were in town!

We'll certainly keep your feedback on our drink ware and plates in mind. Our goal is and always has been for our guests to feel right at home when they stay with us, and offering ceramic mugs, etc., might be a nice touch!

Until next time,

Myiesha and Jonathan were exceptional! We were there for a surprise 40th and they were instrumental and extremely helpful pulling it off. The location is the best. Within walking distant to the quarter, Harrahs, and the infamous Mannings.

Room Tip: 221 lovely and very comfortable room
