“Budget suite + contemporary decor = a NOLA keeper”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2011

It's nice to a see a budget suite hotel that doesn't look like it was pulled from the early '90s. It looks like La Quinta has stayed true to its budget roots while still doing an impressive job bringing this property up to date design-wise. In town for a week for the Rotary International convention, during my initial search for lodging options some more upscale lodging options did look tempting, and while the W New Orleans beckoned, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to see La Quinta's newly remodeled, but affordable, property. The free "Bright Side" continental breakfast (plus waffles) was a dollar saver, and while I found some of the available breakfast food options uninspiring, they were included in the room rate after all and probably kept me from overindulging. :-) And it's tough to justify the high wi-fi charges of so-called "full service" hotels when budget lodging options such as this one offer it for no additional charge.

Our one-bedroom suite was decorated in La Quinta's newer, brighter color palette and included an imaginative take on the sofabed concept on which our daughter had no trouble falling asleep. It was a bit bothersome to be located overlooking the pool deck while actually on the pool level, as we had to keep our window shades drawn to prevent pool-goers from seeing into our room. That said, our daughter couldn't get enough of the admittedly small pool which may well have been the highlight of her week.

While no proper restaurant is located in the hotel, we found a nice custom-built burger restaurant across the street which felt very cozy, laid back, and welcoming. It's also possible we may have partaken of the local Domino's one rainy evening.

Next time I'm in town and need somewhere to stay on a tight budget, this La Quinta will be at the top of my list.

Room Tip: Several rooms have windows that look out over the pool on that level. To preserve your privacy, ask...

We stayed here overnight on our trip to Texas this summer. We wanted to be near the French Quarter with kids and a dog. This is the most cost efficient hotel in the area that allows pets. You are usually in dumpier places for cost efficient dog hotels but this one was very clean and the employees were super nice. We were put on a floor with a lot of other dog owners apparently, every time we walked by a few doors dogs would bark, but we never heard them over night. Room was clean and spacious, only thing is if we did not have a dog I would have requested not to be on a pet floor. We walked to the French Quarter for the evening, we've been a couple of times so we knew the areas we wanted to visit. If it is a first time it would seem like a very long walk however. Lots of traffic crossing Canal and after dark I would have rather had a car with two small children. But we made it by walking all around the Quarter with dinner and shopping without too much complaining, and the kids were beat by the time we made it back safe and event free. Would have felt unsafe walking by myself however, darker streets and a bit hard to find in the dark FYI. Another tip, to walk you pets during your stay a small park is about 2 blocks away, plan for a trek a couple of times a day while you are there. We tried the continental breakfast the next day and it was fine, yogurt, pastries, bagels, boiled eggs, coffee etc. My picky girls found plenty of things they would eat. Overall great place for the price in the FQ.

Room Tip: Not sure of views from higher floors, ours were of the businesses near by, but for overnight no comp...

The hotel's location (near Canal Street and Street Cars) is excellent. However, the hotel did not maintain adequate hot water supply after the morning hours. We were there for seven days to enjoy the city, but by 7 PM each day, there was no hot water. Showering after being out all day was not fun when returning to no hot water. The water pressure was weak too.

Have stayed here a few times. First time was a bit of a nightmare as there was an uncontrollable fraternity/sorority on our floor - sleepless before Ironman. BUT, the king room and suites I have stayed in were VERY CLEAN and contemporary. Last week's stay was PERFECT! ALL of the STAFF are incredibly accommodating and professional (special shout out to Eddie and Melody)! Will be back again soon!

Room Tip: A new club or bar must have opened since the last time I was there. Next time I will request a high...

The location is convenient to the Stadium. The staff are friendly, but I wasn't impressed with the room or cleanliness. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. No safe/mini-bar/frig in the room. It serves its purpose for a quick stay and the rate is good compared to others in the city.

This is a great hotel. On my first trip to New Orleans, my client booked me a room at another hotel and once my assignment was done, I switched hotels to try out this La Quinta Inn. I'm a huge fan of La Quintas so I wanted to try it to compare the two and also to get the points.

The room was super big and modern with a great bed looking out over the city. What a view from this area too, nice. The bathroom was also big and well-stocked with nice toiletries and fresh, fluffy towels and was as spotless as the entire room was. The mini-fridge is always welcome, especially for multi-day stays. The location was perfect, literally right in the middle of everything so walking to sights or restaurants was a breeze. It's close to the street car lines too so if you're going farther than you can walk, you can jump on one of the street cars.

The breakfast was great with eggs and oatmeal and decent coffee, along with the usual rolls and muffins and breads, cereals, etc. There are a couple of Starbucks nearby if you're into dark coffee like I am, but I'm sure there are local coffee places there too with great brew.

This will most likely be my hotel of choice in New Orleans on any future trips. It's a great hotel and the folks working there are as nice as everyone else in NOLA is!

Sayed here weekend after Thanksgiving. The suite had a unique apartment-like floorplan. The staff was helpful and friendly without being intrusive. Loved the location of the hotel and was able to walk to the French Quarter easily.

Incredible value for a suite in downtown New Orleans. Free Wi-Fi was nice. Would definitely recommend to someone needing a very reasonably priced suite in a good location.
