“Perfect location for Essence Festival”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

This was my second stay at Hilton Hotel Riverside. The first one was a three-night stay shortly after Christmas to bring in the new year, 2013. I had a spacious room with a riverfront view; it was breathtaking. My recent four-night stay was to attend the Essence Music Festival. Though I was not assigned a room with a view of the Mississippi River, for this particular occasion, I could not have picked a hotel with a better location. The events I wanted to attend were in two venues: the convention center and the Super Dome. The convention center was a short walk right up the street next to the hotel, and the music venue, the Super Dome, was a straight, 20 minute walk up Poydras Street. Most of the restaurants that I like to frequent while in New Orleans were within a 10-15 minute walk to the French Quarter. Oh, might I add, the casino was directly across the street from Hilton Hotel Riverside--perfect!

We stayed at this HIlton for a week and just returned last Friday. Overall, we enjoyed it. The room was very spacious and the coffee shop and restaurant in the hotel were good. One problem... the windows in our room were very dirty. We wanted to open them and let in some light, but they were literally gross to look at. Our room was 728 and overlooked the interior of the hotel... so no fancy view, but a clean window would have been really nice. I kept the curtains closed most of the time because it was so dirty.
The hotel has a great location, with the trolley being right outside and the people at the concierge desk were absolutely wonderful!!

I had a very traumatic horrible stay at the hotel while there this weekend. On the second day of my 4 day stay, we discovered a MICE in our room. I am absoulutely terrified of mice and since everything in the area was sold out, the best they could do was change my room. I was very uncomfortable and disguested the entire weekend and on edge thinking I would possibly see another mice. The only good thing about the hotel were the bellmen, they were very attentive and nice.

Had a riverside room. The room was very quiet, comfortable, and clean upon arrival. However, housekeeping can be very slow even after an inquiry at the front desk. Finally showed up around 4:30. Bed was very comfortable and room temperature was great considering how hot it was outside! Pool and pool area was nice and clean. Hotel is in a great location. Walking distance to the French Quarter and Trolley is right outside the front door. Fee is only $1.25 so if you do get tired of walking you can jump on the trolley. The view of the Mississippi River was nice. Parking garage has a very low clearance, is pretty scary, and a VERY long walk to the front desk and rooms. Parking fee ($35.00) is too high considering how far it is from the room. Overall a great stay and I would definitely stay again!

Room Tip: We were on the 19th floor, riverside room. Great view.

I stayed here on a business trip and was thrilled to be walking distance from the French Quarter. So often, my business trips put me in airport hotels, far far from city life. So I loved this hotel's location. And the fact that we could not only walk but walk SAFELY downtown at night to hear live music or grab a drink and enjoy a new city.

When it comes to the hotel, my room was very nice, and the a/c actually worked, all night! The bed was also comfortable and the room was quiet, with a great view of the river — you can't ask for much more.

Now, the a/c worked TOO well in the meeting rooms, which were generally close to freezing. And I've never been so uncomfortable in meeting-room chairs by day's end. But I have to say that location, location, location is really true in this case, and so that (plus a good night's sleep with a view) sways me to give this hotel high marks.

Room Tip: ask for a river-facing room, for sure

Profoundly disappointed in this Hilton property! We stayed for three nights for a festival and even though the staff was fairly courteous, it did not compensate for the shabby guest rooms. Upon entry into our room, we were greeted by carpet stains, scuffed wallpaper and dated furniture. Even the hallways need updating (peeled wallpapering and faded carpeting). I have lodged in a few hotels in this New Orleans area and there are a bevy of other hotels that maintain a fresher and more modern appeal, for the same price or less (Lowes, "W", Marriott, Renaissance, etc.). Additionally, there is NO WIFI or INTERNET CONNECTION available in the guest rooms--must go to the lobby. In essence, this hotel is long overdue for remodeling. The only plus was that there are mini refigerators in each room and there is a good restaurant downstairs. Location wise, it is most convenient to the convention center not the Superdome.

This is a huge hotel,1600 plus rooms. The location is the drawing factor,Cable car is right outside the hotel.Easy to get to most of the attractions. There were some conventions in the hotel;this was a problem in that we had to call house keeping on two occaisions to have our room made. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There are railroad tracks along side the hotel so don't be surprised by an early morning freight train.

Room Tip: Rooms on the side away from the river may be a little quieter if you don't want a riverview.
