“Looks great, but didn't smell great!!!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2011

I booked this hotel to stay in during the July 4th weekend to attend the Essence Music Festival. My friend and I stayed on the 14th floor and the carpet in the room was stained, and the musty smell in the room reminded me of an old basement that had a water leak. I asked the front desk if there was a water leak on the 14th floor, but I was told no. Only turning up the ac in the room helped to get rid of most of the smell. I will choose another hotel next year!!

Our apologies for the musty smell that you expirienced during your stay. Our Engineering team did confirm that we did not have or find any water leaks on the floor that you stayed. However they are checking to ensure that there are no AC condenser units causing any condensation.
We hope to see you back for Essence 2012. Beginning this week we are starting a guest room renovation project in our main tower rooms and we are very excited about the new product we will be offering our guests. We look forward to seeing you next July.

Stayed here for one night on business. Saved a bit of $ by going with the parking package so my stay was not terribly pricey when compared to other hotels of the same quality in the area. As for some of the other reviews re: charges - it is what it is. Yes, in room internet is expensive as is room service and parking. But that's not exclusive to this hotel or to the Hilton chain. You're going to get hammered with those charges in other hotels as well. (It is somewhat ridiculous that you have to pay for internet access in your room these days, though.)
This is definitely a hotel that caters to the convention crowd. It has a ton of convention space in its own right not to mention it is a short walk to the convention center which is cavernous. The hotel itself is huge and the lobby areas can get a tad crowded. I never had to wait that long for an elevator which was surprising. The check-in process took a while. There was a feeder line set up and it definitely seemed like they could use more staff at registration. Also, the young lady who finally checked me in spoke broken English which made it difficult to pick up everything she was telling me about the property.
The room was nice, clean, and average size. I had a great view of the city.
The location is the most attractive thing about this property. If you are attending meetings at the convention center this is a great option as it is a short walk (but uncovered so be preapred in the event of rain) plus the hotel is between the convention center and the French Quarter. The Riverwalk is attached which is convenient. Harrah's is across the street. You can walk to the French Quarter quickly and relatively safely.
This is definitely a property that I would consider choosing again. If the price is right.

Visited New Orleans and stayed at the Hilton Riverside three nights June 27-30. The hotel itself is a massive complex of buildings right on the edge of the river. Since it's so big, the Hotel seems to cater to the convention crowd. The best thing this hotel has going for it is its location. It is connected by a walkway to the Riverside Mall where you can buy pretty much anything you want and there is a streetcar stop just out one of the Hotel's back doors that will take you up Canal Street and to the French Quarter in just a few minutes. Harrah's Casino is also across the street. Our room was in Building 3, far away from the main lobby and convention rooms - actually a blessing for us since there was a cheerleader convention going on when we were there...and the little monsters were everywhere. Even though our room was facing into a courtyard, we actually had a little side view of the River from our window. The room itself was spacious and comfortable. Beds were great - lots of pillows. Room service was boring, bland and much too expensive. Since New Orleans is a HOT City in the Summer, you will find the A/C most adequate, if not freezing, everywhere you go. Our building 3 also had a beautiful outdoor pool overlooking the river which was nice to cool down in. The other reviews on here are correct - everything inside the hotel is very expensive... but seriously... who are these people and why didn't they go outside? Some tips to save money: Harrah's Casino across the street has an $11 all you can eat buffet... The Riverwalk mall next door has a great food court with some of the best boozy daiquiris we ever had (which they give you in handy styrofoam cups so you can take them away). And if you really have to check-up on those emails... The Riverwalk mall has an internet cafe that you can use for as little as $3. Cher from the Visitor's Centre (again in the Riverwalk mall) booked all of our tours. We did the Swap Tour and the Natchez boatcruise. Both were awesome. Overall, we totally recommend this hotel, but be prepared to venture outside so you don't get ripped off!

Room Tip: Building 3 has the nicer pool

We recently spent six nights at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside. It is a very nice hotel located next to the Riverwalk. The rooms are average size with comfortable beds and linens. The staff was very friendly and helpful with all our needs. Internet is pricey at $16.95 a day and is charged per computer, not per room. So, if you plan to use more than one computer in your room, be prepared to pay an additional $16.95 per computer. Valet parking is $40.00 per day. We only had one problem with housekeeping, where we had to call twice, (second call to the manager), on the last afternoon of our stay. We had been out of the room since 10:30am and the room was not cleaned when we returned about 2:45 pm. After the second call, we finally got the room cleaned about 4:00 pm.

we're currently staying in this Hilton, and we have two nights left. we are so disappointed. not only do they charge for internet, parking, and breakfast, but they also charge to use the fitness center! and their idea of "nominal fee" is so distorted as to be comical. 18 dollars a day for internet. 12 dollars a day for the gym. 34 dollars a day for parking. 20 dollars for breakfast buffet. and this is a 200/night hotel. the room is ordinary, with the highlight being the bath products. we feel duped, and we wish we'd spent our /very/ hard-earned money on a place that takes care of its customers. pathetic.

Please accept our apologies for any miscommunication that may have come your way regarding fees for the items mentioned. Our fees for breakfast, HSIA in our guest rooms and use of our Health Club are comparable with other convention properties in our competitor set both locally and nationally. We recently have extended complimentary HSIA to our guests for use in our lobby and public space and one of our Guest Service Agents will be more than happy to assist you in getting on line. If you have not expirienced our Health Club by Hilton, please do while you are here. Our Club is a 90,000 sq ft state of the art facility and while Health Club access is complimentary to our Silver, Gold and Diamond HHonors members, the Club does offer discounted multi day passes to our non HHonors guests. One of our Managers on Duty would be happy to discuss any questions or concerns you may have regarding the hotel or our services. We are certainly happy to have you here and we hope you enjoy your remaining time with us.

The hotel is beautiful and offers spectacular views of the Mississippi river and the New Orleans city skyline. Hilton hotels have some of the best beds in the business- very comfy and lots of pillows. The bathroom was very nice and included a swing out makeup mirror and lots of large fluffy towels. The room had a cool coffee maker and Italian coffee, a comfy chair and ottoman as well as a desk.

The walls were so thin I thought I heard the guy next door poot! Seriously, we heard every word the the people on either side of us said, heard them cough, heard their kids laughing and playing in their room as well as the hallway. If you are a light sleeper bring an Ambien or some sleep aid.

The staff was very friendly however, be aware that they will charge your card an incidental deposit which they will give back in 5-9 days. Parking is not only NOT free, but high priced and a very long hike away. $34 for park yourself a mile away or $40 for valet which was full when we were there. Internet in your room is NOT FREE and comes at a cost of $16.95 per computer or $7.75 per hour- it is free if you sit in the lobby.

The location is great- next door to Riverwalk mall, I-max and the aquarium, across the street from Harrah's Casino and close to the French Quarter. The street car has a stop right by the front door which is quite convenient- and much easier than walking to your car. Parking in New Orleans is a bit of a challenge and can cost quite a bit.

Room service prices were high- $16 for a po-boy, $9 for a kids meal- you get the picture. There is a nice restaurant in the hotel- Dragos but we did not eat there as New Orleans has so many excellent food choices. There is also a pool which we did not use as there is so much to do and see in the big easy.

While I am a big fan of Hilton hotels- I will probably not return to this one at any price. As with restaurants there are a bunch of nice hotels in the area that would almost certainly be better than this one.
