“Great Staff-Great Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

From the moment we valet parked the car to our check out three says later the staff at Hotel St. Marie were amazing. True southern hospitality. Jenn at the front desk and Karl deserve special kudos. They were fun to talk to, always smiling and from giving directions and suggestions to the little extras like giving us extra regular coffee to bringing a large chest of ice to our room they made us feel more like family than hotel guests. The room (streetside balcony) was clean, larger than expected and most important, when we closed the balconey doors - quiet. We are already planning another trip to New Orleans and the Hotel St. Marie will be our residence for future trips.

Room Tip: Balcony rooms are worth the little extra you pay.

Older hotel. Rooms clean and neat. Hotel staff friendly, helpful .. went out of their way to greet us and take care of all needs. We had the sharing balcony on the 2nd floor (courtside balcony) and ended up having a blast. Food is pricey but delicious. Wait staff went out of their way showing kindness and generosity. Holly was a wonderful waitress. Very close to all attractions, 1/2 block from Bourbon Street.

Room Tip: If you are using two rooms ... #221 and #222 have the shared balcony courtside ... wonderful fun.

Everyone we encountered at this hotel, from the front desk to the bar to the restaurant, was amazing. The level of friendly and helpful service is exceptional. That said, Clara and Holly deserve special kudos.

The hotel itself has a few minor maintenance issues, as any old building does. Our rooms were clean and nicely furnished. Beds were comfy, although the pillows could have been nicer. We shared a balcony overlooking the courtyard, which was perfect. After the noisy fun out on the streets, we could enjoy the quiet serenity of the courtyard. The location couldn't be better, just off Bourbon Street and within easy walkind distance of anyplace in the quarter.

There is a sandwich shop with a small but very tasty selection. Also the lounge is small but not lacking in any way. We didn't have breakfast here but did have dinner one evening from the restaurant and it was delicious!

Room Tip: Balcony rooms on the courtyard side are quieter.

Thank god, because it was so hot! The hotel staff were very helpful, booking us tours and making suggestions for attractions. The hotel was tidy, maybe a little run down, but the cold pool made up for it. The location was great. It was close to everything and everything was walkable. The room was large and had great air-con and a huge bed. All in all a very enjoyable stay.

I love this hotel chain btw, but the St. Marie wasn't my favorite- although still had some great points to it. Ok, so here are the downsides: rooms are extremely dark (even with a balcony room) and fairly average for a boutique hotel; staff on the whole didn't seem as friendly as other places I've stayed in NOLA. Upsides: housekeeping was very good; great attached bar; very convenient attached little bakery/deli; tasty food from kitchen; nice garden area; down the street from Bourbon but relatively quiet (I had a garden balcony room so cannot speak to the street facing rooms).
So, all in all definitely decent with no major issues but if I had my choice I wouldn't choose this hotel over some others I have stayed.

Very nice people at the front desk. The Hotel has a small lounge with a bartender that goes by the name "Goldie". She is very informative and helpful. She knows the city and will openly share information. Hotel is located one block off Bourbon street. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the housekeeping people are very friendly and do a really good job.

Room Tip: No balcony on the 5th floor courtyard side.

The hotel St. Marie is located next to Bourbon Street in the French Quarter. Our room was tastefully furbished and clean. The staff was helpful and friendly. Despite of the central location we didn't hear a sound from Bourbon Street. Breakfast was average. The price was very good.
I can recommend the Hotel St. Marie to everybody who wants to visit New Orleans and the French Quarter!

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the courtyard.
