“Great Location and Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2010

My husband and I stayed here for three nights at the end of March. We hadn't been back to NOLA since Katrina, and our usual hotel (Hotel Monaco) had been flooded and never came back. I did a lot of research into trying to find a new favorite and the Prince Conti had good reviews. We were not disappointed. While it's not as chic as the Monaco, it was clean, spacious and the service was outstanding.

We checked in early after getting off the cruise ship. We did not expect to get into our room, but the front desk person (I didn't get her name) put a rush on cleaning our room. We were at lunch when we got a call from them telling us our room was done. I thought it was a nice they took the extra time to call us. She was also very helpful when we asked for info on tours and shuttles. Look for the little cards in the lobby area-we got discounts on Mardi Gras World and the Zoo.

We had a king suite room (103) and it was huge. It had a full kitchen with modern appliances. (We didn't use them-too many great places to eat!) It also had a private courtyard with tables and chairs. The first night we called for an extra blanket, and they brought it right away.

The continental breakfast was good. Lots of variety and a nice touch.

We loved the location. We usually stay in the CBD to avoid the noise of the Quarter, but this was a perfect spot. We also loved the neighborhood bar across the street-Deja Vu. Good, cheap, food, and good happy hour.

My only complaint is the room was a bit musty, and dark, but I know it's old and you get used to it after awhile. Also, the couch could use an upgrade as the cushions were pretty worn, but again, nothing to ruin our stay.

We enjoyed the Prince Conti, and would stay there again.

Our three-night stay was very pleasant. The "curb appeal" of the hotel entrance was just what we were looking for to set the tone for a stay in the French Quarter. Everything was impeccably clean, a plus for an older property. The location is an absolute bonus and the included Continental Breakfast adds to the value. We have since recommended this hotel to friends who are making plans to visit New Orleans later this year.

We discovered The Prince Conti Hotel "by accident" several years ago through an opaque booking site. We have been staying there ever since for our semi-annual trips to New Orleans. It is a boutique-type hotel. First, the location is ideal for the French Quarter. It is near the center of the French Quarter, one block off Bourbon Street, and staggering distance to/from all the fun places. The staff is pleasant and helpful; they remember us from previous visits. Yes, the room and the bathroom are a little small, but they are clean, comfortable, and nicely appointed. And, the housekeeping staff is friendly and considerate. The rates are very reasonable (low), especially considering the location and the atmosphere of the place. If you need pampering with room service, a spa, and a pool, this is not the place. But, if you want a charming room with French Quarter feel and support from friendly staff, this place is for you!

I visited New Orleans for the first time last month, and found the Prince Conti online. I went with your previous reviews for this quaint hotel, and I'm glad I did! The location is perfect for seeing the Quarter, and the staff is so attentive! The rooms are super clean, and well stocked each day. The continental breakfast is really good, and they don't run out of great muffins, croissants, and danish! I would recommend the Conti for anyone, young or old. It is a wonderful place to stay to see New Orleans!

The room itself was very nice, the price was great, the location couldn't be beat. The staff was helpful and friendly. Continental breakfast was generous, replenished, and served for a wide span of time, not necessarily the norm in the French Quarter, at least in my experience. We were prepared for noise from Bourbon St because of the location, but that was not the problem. We were kept awake by noise from other rooms--we could clearly hear people in the next-door rooms, and a small shrieking child from several rooms away--and the hallway, which was kind of surprising. It won't put me off staying here, but I'll certainly take earplugs the next time I go.

The first room I was shown was tiny, dingy and stale smelling. The desk clerk let me look at another that was slightly larger but still dingy and stale. I was able to upgrade for an extra charge for two nights but had to move to a dingy small room the third night. The desk clerk was very abrupt and pushy when I came to the desk to return the key to the "upgrade" room. The main part of the hotel has an ancient heating and air conditioning system - bad stale air and no circulation with fresh outside air. The ceilings were lowered to install the vents making the rooms and halls very close feeling. The breakfast room was cold and uninviting. Security was questionable (cameras I assume, but having open doors to the street a half block from Bourbon St. is not reassuring). I have stayed at several very lovely hotels in the French Quarter and usually return for another stay, but I would not consider this hotel again.

Great location in the French Quarter. Staff has been great and we have more than enjoyed our stay in New Orleans.
