“Very happy with our stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013 via mobile

If your main goal in NOLA is exploring the French Quarter, this hotel is perfectly situated near the center. It is a 10 minute walk or less to anything you want to see inside the French Quarter, and a 5 minute walk to Canal Street where you can catch a street car to the Garden District, financial district, SuperDome, etc. The hotel itself is clean and secure. You need a key to get inside after hours. The front desk people were courteous, and our room was spacious with very high ceilings. For a budget room, we were impressed with the size. It did only have a full sized bed, so if you prefer larger you should consider upgrading your room. We were on the street side and did not have a problem with noise from the street. My only complaint, which is no fault of the hotel's, was that we were woken up every night at 2-4am by obnoxious drunk people coming back on Bourbon Street. I think you will get this at nearly every hotel in French Quarter.

The hotel has a decent bar, but there are two better ones close by. Erin Rose is a local, non-touristy dive bar with great po boys (apparently 2 decently famous chefs now work there serving up what a local described to me as high end po boys) just a 2 minute walk down Conti Street from the hotel. French 75 is a craft cocktail bar one street east of the hotel (on Bienville, north of Bourbon), and more touristy. We enjoyed them both for different reasons.

There is also a breakfast cafe in the lobby that is good, but pretty expensive for what you get. Again, there are a ton of places to grab a quick breakfast within a 5 minute walk, and several markets if you would rather buy cereal and eat in the room.

For a quick trip to NOLA exploring French Quarter and the Garden District, we could not have asked for a better value or more convenient location. We will definitely return if we go back, and will recommend to friends and family.

Our first time in New Orleans and we couldn't have been happier with our choice of accommodation! A complimentary upgrade to a suite made life easier for us and our two teenage sons. Room was outstanding, clean, spacious and quiet. Location is perfect just a half block from the insanity that is Bourbon Street. Staff were outstanding and very helpful with tips and advice. For the money the Prince Conti is a five star property.
As for Bourbon Street? 30 years ago I'd have lost my mind. Now it's nice
For a few days but after that it's sensory overload. It's all about the atmosphere but get ready for an experience unlike anything you have seen before. And do yourself a favor...don't take kids. This is Disney for adults only. Finding a place to eat with kids is tough if they're not 21 and some of the things they'll see and hear will keep them awake at night! All in all it was a great couple of days and if we ever find our way back there you'll find us at the Prince Conti!

Loved the feeling of the hotel, fit right in with the French Quarter. Close to everything but yet far enough from the noise. Could hear noise from the room beside us, but did enjoy the stay here. The staff were all wonderful.

Room Tip: We had a hard time finding the entrance. Just pull in and the front desk is to your right.

The hotel staff was very nice, friendly, and helpful. The location was perfect, close to the action, but away from the noise. The hotel was very clean, and had lots of charm. The cost was also good. I will stay again when visiting New Orleans.

I have enjoyed the charm and old world ambience of New Orleans for more than 40 years. I have made it a mission to find an old authentic French Quarter hotel replete with old brick walls and tropical foliage, including the quintessential towering banana plants. The only drawback is their is no inviting courtyard except in the executive suites. My search is over...I discovered the Prince Conti with it's perfect location near the raucous Bourbon Street and the absurdly over priced antique offerings of Royal Street. The hotel is in walking distance of all the Quarters fine restaurants. Having stayed in one of the two executive suites I can't speak to the quality of the average room. But if the suite is any indication, you will be satisfied with the hotels other accommodations. If you want the true French Quarter experience, rather than the sterile experience of a modern chain hotel, the Prince Conti is one of the Quarter's Grand Dames.

Room Tip: Suites 103 and 104 have their own small courtyards.

The Prince Conti continues to be a great value with the special rates during the off season. We have stayed here 10 differant visits and have never been disappointed. Ava is the Queen, she is so very helpful and kind. The valets are always ready to help and give advice about where to eat if you wanna go some place other than the tourist traps. They recommended the Camellia Cafe for breakfast ( we enjoy a walk before we eat) and we found this to be the place for breakfast.
Prince Conti has "small" rooms for less money or larger if you want, but they all look the same when you close your eyes.

Room Tip: Off the street

We had a few issues with our toilet being stopped up. Maintenance came in and fixed it in a timely fashion. The maids always did a good job. The front desk and bellhops were always courteous and prompt. The location was perfect. We were there for the Essence Music Festival and every venue was in walking distance. I will most definitely book Prince Conti next year.
