“Great hotel, avoid Bourbon Street side”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed today NEW via mobile

For many people Bourbon Street is the attraction of New Orleans' French Quarter, but if you have been there once or twice chances are you are sick of it. It is raucous day and night year round. The Royal Sonesta is really right in the heart of the action. I really like the hotel but I find its location its only drawback because it gets too crazy on Bourbon Street and I always enter and exit through a side entrance and not the hotel's front on Bourbon. Also I make sure I DON'T get a room overlooking Bourbon.

Everything else about the hotel is great. Even though it is large the staff is really friendly, professional and willing to help with anything. The restaurants on property are excellent from R'Evolution to the Oyster Bar to the coffee house. Nice pool and courtyard areas. We had a meeting there and the meeting staff executed things very well

just returned from a week at the royal sonesta in bourbon street. this was our first time in new orleans but definately not our last. amazing hotel, clean and quiet considering the bedlam outside! (which we loved) conveniently located for a wealth of entertainment, not too far to stagger back to your room. we booked a trip with concierge russell who was very knowledgeable and friendly, as were all the hotel staff. brian, our bus driver, from louisiana tours was hysterical with his stories (if you meet him ask him about his experiences during katrina). we loved our time here at this hotel and new orleans and plan to return.

Room Tip: don't get a street balcony room if you crave peace and quiet

We went to visit New Orleans and stayed at the Royal Sonesta. We had a great time. Perfect place to stay right on the strip of Bourbon Street. Very clean and great customer service. I would definitely stay again. Look forward to coming back again.

Room Tip: we stayed facing the pool side. Less noise from the main strip.

We came to check out the hotel during an earlier visit, very beautiful wanted to ask the front desk a few questions. That's when we met Alexandra, she was being verbally attacked by an absolute jerk who was calling her every name in the book. She was very professional, didn't let it faze her and was more worried about how it affected us. We booked for 3 nights - Jazz Fest! Love this hotel and love the service! Rooms are clean, quiet and beautiful! We will definitely be back!

This hotel has been kept up very nicely. The fixtures in the lobby are beautiful. The courtyard and pool area are a haven in the craziness of Bourbon Street. The biggest downside is the location because you can not avoid Bourbon Street and all of the activity. Make sure you ask for a room not facing the street. Otherwise, the service was good, rooms were clean and spacious and I really do not have any complaints. I was a breastfeeding mom on a business trip and they were able to accommodate my need for refrigeration with out any problems.

Room Tip: avoid a view of Bourbon street for the least amount of noise

We had a very good room on the top floor away from the noise of Bourbon Street (huge relief). It was well appointed, the glaring exception being no coffee making facilities, which holds for all rooms at the hotel. Our top floor staff were great. The two concierges, Darren and Kirsten in particular were a mine of useful information and genuine personalities in the bargain. I can't say the same however for the staff in the main lobby. By and large their attitude ranged from quite helpful in a few cases to indifferent, even unhelpful in others. My one dealing with the downstairs concierge began as simple request for assistance but resulted in a mini-lecture on his role. Condescending! Overall,a mixed bag in my view.

Very nice hotel. Staff was very knowledgeable, polite and accommodating.
BRAVO to Jabari and Darrin! I would recommend this place without hesitation.
Also, the location was great and closely accessible to many popular places.
