“Quality French Quarter Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014

Having been to New Orleans several, several times, I am always looking for new hotels to try out. I've seen Hotel Mazarin in the top 3 of French Quarter hotels the past couple years and wanted to check it out. While it is a bit expensive, I certainly felt like I got what I paid for (in a good way) and even got a good deal.

We stayed in a Deluxe King and the aspect that stood out the most was the spacious room and bathroom. French Quarter space is at a premium and many hotels translate that tight space onto their guests. I felt the room was more than large enough for me and my wife and the bathroom was also quite large. A great added bonus.

One concern was that all the rooms are "open-air" rooms (meaning the door leads to outside). The rooms do open up into their beautiful, private courtyard so safety was never a concern, rather the Louisiana heat and humidity. Summer showers roll through daily from 1 pm - 4 pm, which can lead to a bit of a humid feeling in the room. Upon arrival, our room did feel a bit humid, but leaving the AC running fixed that.

Hotel Mazarin offered 2 free nightly cocktails in their attached restaurant/bar, free bottled water in the room (HUGE plus as it's best to avoid the tap water in New Orleans) and free breakfast. Overall a really great experience and hotel. I'd be more than happy to stay again

While in Pensacola decided to visit New Orleans for Saturday night. Found rating and pricing of Hotel Mazarin to be favorable and location seemed to be fantastic. It was! Half a block from Bourbon St. and half a block from Royal St., an easy walk to Jackson Square and Canal St., rich in the heart of the French Quarter. Recently renovated, very clean, great staff and security, complimentary breakfast hit the spot (pancakes and fresh fruit, perfect coffee). We received two free drink tickets to the hotel bar, 21st Amendment. Don't be boring and walk around the block to the street entrance. Find your way through the hotel, speakeasy-style! Concierge helpful and great at suggesting restaurant. Will find another time for a long weekend in New Orleans and will stay again at Hotel Mazarin.

Room Tip: This hotel is located a half block from Bourbon St. If you do not tolerate noise into the night wel...

This hotel has a sophisticated ambience yet relaxed mood. Chandeliers and rich colors abound with paintings and references to the famous Cardinal Mazarin of Louis XIV fame. the black marble look tiles in the rooms are cool and polished and add comfort to the summer weather in New Orleans. Nice staff and super location make this a very nice place to stay and get around easily without all the noise. The adjacent bar, the 21st Amendment has interesting drinks and live music nightly, and is small and inviting and clean! Also Royal Street is not to be missed for its galleries and antique shops that are a visual treat for strolling in the afternoons or eves.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the inner courtyard are quite private and quiet!

I cannot imagine a more perfect location if you wish to visit Bourbon Street without being within range of stray beers or beads. Step out of the door and turn left and you are looking at Bourbon Street, turn right, and you are looking at Royal. Go through the courtyard located in the middle of the hotel (an sanctuary for sure!), and slip out the somewhat hidden door into 21st Amendment Bar, and you are looking out at the ACME Oyster Bar.

The staff we all very friendly and made you feel perfectly welcome. The rooms are wonderful, comfortable and classy with a great walk-in shower, dual sinks in a separate dressing room, comfortable furniture and a large modern TV (complete with HDMI connections for your own use), The free WiFI was great as well.

The breakfast was also very good. I was very pleased to see the big pot of grits for us southerners! This is a real breakfast bar, fully stocked with sausage, bacon, eggs, pastries, breads, fresh fruit, yogurts, coffee, juices, and much more.

What could make it better? Room service. We stayed all week, and while there is so much good food around, it would have been nice to hide in the room for a night. If you want to do this, you need to bring your own food with you. No microwave, and a small refrigerator (perfect for a few waters or drinks but not much more)

After a day shopping or an evening out in the insanely off-the-hook street, it was like walking through a door into a secret garden. Instantly all the hustle and bustle was gone and we were in peace and quiet. We had a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: Courtyard views are obscured by a large tarp anytime rain is in the forecast.

This graceful and quaint boutique hotel located in the French quarter was perfect for our short stay in New Orleans. Although around the corner from noisy Bourbon st., our room on the last floor was ideally located. Very quiet. The rooms were elegantly furnished and well appointed. Breakfast in the courtyard was charming. The staff at reception, the delightful concierge and the doormen were always very helpful. Highly recommended.

We had a petite king room which is a bit small but we were fine since we only stayed 3 nights and only had one suitcase.

We stayed in the inside courtyard part which was nice and quiet.

The location can't be beat, the street it is on is located in between Bourbon and Royal streets. 15 minutes or so walking distance to Jackson Square, less to streetcars on Canal st.

I would definitely stay here again. My only complaint is the wifi is not reliable, keeps dropping. I brought an ipad and couldn't really use it, I ended up using my phone for the LTE when wifi didn't work.

Room Tip: Inside courtyard rooms are very quiet. Wifi was not good but don't know if it's throughout...

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Mazarin. The rooms are very large and so many complimentary items. This location is very close to many great restaurants, bars and entertainment. Also, great shopping too. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We will stay here again.

Room Tip: Upper floor around courtyard.
