“Great little hotel and fabulous staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2013

The hotel and its location are both wonderful, however, it was the staff who made our stay comfortable and memorable. Every request was answered with a smile and prompt attention to detail. I would highly recommend this hotel, I hope I'll be able to return to enjoy an other stay.

This is my 2nd time at the hotel and my stay was exceptional. The location is perfect. Larry, Nina and Jason all gave great service and were accessible when needed. It was great dealing with people that enjoy their job and are happy to be there. My room was cleaned everyday in a timely manner. The inroom safe and water is a plus. The breakfast was hot and fresh, though the breakfast area was a bit cold. The courtyard is well maintained and the candles in the lobby at night are a soothing touch. The hotel has a relaxing atmosphere in contrast to the late night noise outside the hotel. Check in and out are simple with no lines or delays. Definately will be back!

Room Tip: If you face the stree you will hear the street cleaners, garbage trucks and all the street noise but...

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel and really enjoyed it. The rooms were very nice, clean, decorated with a French classic look and rooms were very quiet. The location is perfect. Just around the corner from Bourbon Street with plenty of restaurants within walking distance. No need to rent a car. Courtyard is quaint and a great place to sit and have a drink or breakfast in the morning. Only downfalls, were the air conditioning unit in our room made a rattling noise at night and the shower doesn't have a door so I found it a little chilly. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Staff was friendly and you can't beat the location!

Room Tip: If requesting a room ask for one that isn't facing Bienville and not near the stairwell. Could...

At first, we got a room that seemed like it in the low budget part of the hotel. We did not like it. Asked for a better room off the courtyard and it was SO much better. Breakfast was just good enough and you can order omelettes, which we didn't find out until we were finished with breakfast on our last day.

We stayed 5 nights at the Mazarin and loved it. The location is great - near everything in the French Quarter so we didn't need cabs. Our courtyard room was beautiful and very clean. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was very nice, perfect for us, and the breakfast room staff as well as all of the staff was terrific. The only minus is that the temperature in the breakfast room as very cold and as a result many people ate in the courtyard. The same was true of the bar which is very nice. One evening they had the temp in the bar a bit warmer and it was packed. Other than that, it was terrific and we would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Don't get a room on the street side as it could be a bit noisy. We were fine on the courtyard s...

The site between wonderful Royal St.-- the classiest street in the Quarter-- and Bourbon St. is terrific. Just two streets from Canal St. and the Central Business District, and around the corner from Mr. B's Bistro and Galatoire's, two of New Orleans best restaurants, the location is wonderful for walks and convenient to all of the streetcar lines. My husband and I visited with friends who had never seen the city, and our rooms (Superior Kings) were lovely and spacious with nice bathrooms and extremely comfortable beds. Having two sinks is always a plus!
The complementary breakfast was good, and a valuable perk. Sitting in the courtyard to eat was pleasant in early November and much more appealing than the much too cool interior breakfast room. The breakfast staff could do a better job of letting guests know they can order omelettes prepared to order. We had stayed two of our four nights before one of the nice people assisting at breakfast mentioned it. The courtyard was just right, and the atmosphere so true to the spirit of the French Quarter. It is true that there is some noise from guests passing the doors late at night on the way to their rooms, but it did not spoil our stay. Noise proofing between rooms and around bathroom walls was excellent, but a little music and loud conversations outside the rooms seems to drift through the outer door and window. The other criticism I'd read concerning the tent over the courtyard blocking the view of the courtyard from the top floor rooms is valid, but it's clear that the tent allows the hotel to cater events and also offers the guests pleasant space in which to relax and have breakfast. I would definitely stay at Hotel Mazarin again.

Room Tip: Ask for a courtyard view room, and stress that you don't want your view blocked by the tenting o...
