“Hands down, Truly the best place in the quarter that we have stayed at!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

This place has it together! Perfect location in the French Quarter. Guest service is excellent! We checked in late and they gave us a room with two beds. After calling the front desk and telling them we paid for a king they met us at the room and put us in the Presidential Suite! what a great surprise and beyond anything we expected! the hotel is very clean and unique! We've stayed at several hotels in the quarter and this is by far the best.

“Full Disclosure Necessary”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

I was wowed by the reviews on TripAdvisor and other sites by this hotel, so I booked a room here for several nights. What was advertised as a "cozy" room was actually a very small room that only included a bed, a nightstand, and a dresser with a TV. Business travelers should know that these smaller rooms do not have a desk, which makes things awkward if you happen to need to get work done. Also, the wireless internet offered is so slow that it is basically rendered useless. Otherwise, the staff is friendly and the room is clean, but they should probably be more accommodating to those who might need to get work done during their stay.

“A Great Choice in the French Quarter”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

Background: My husband and I are currently in our 30s, we traveled to Louisiana to run in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half-Marathon and to experience the city of New Orleans. We selected Hotel Mazarin based on other TripAdvisor reviews and stayed at the hotel in February 2013.

Booking: We made our reservation directly through the hotel’s website. I also e-mailed the hotel asking for a quiet room. (Our request was met as our room was located in the back courtyard.)

The Hotel: The hotel has a great location in the French Quarter (on Bienville between Bourbon and Royal.) I loved the décor in the common areas as it reminded guests that they were in New Orleans! Hotel highlights included a main courtyard, a back courtyard, a small gym, a small business center, a breakfast area and a wine bar. Our room was modern but again was decorated in a style to fit the French Quarter. Room highlights included a super-comfy king bed, a large flat-screen TV, bathrobes, complimentary Wi-Fi and complimentary bottled water (in a “cooling” fridge.)

Breakfast: A buffet breakfast was complimentary for all guests. The buffet included tea, coffee, juices, fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, cereal, an assortment of breads and pastries, yogurt, etc. We were very satisfied with the breakfast selection. You can eat your breakfast in the breakfast area or in the main courtyard.

Wine Bar: If you enjoy wine, you should definitely check out the hotel’s wine bar “Patrick’s Bar Vin.” The bar had a great atmosphere and offered some amazing wines! (Try a glass of Patrick’s “Secret” Pinot Grigio for only $5!)

Negative Notes: We experienced three issues while staying at Hotel Mazarin. Issue 1 - After a quick and friendly check-in, a staff member was appointed to show us to our room. However, this staff member didn’t know where our room was and we walked around the hotel for about 15 minutes until we found our room. (We did not complain about this but believe that the staff should be familiar with the room locations.) Issue 2 - Our room was not serviced the first day of our stay. The next day, we called the front desk and asked that our room be serviced that morning. (We did not have a problem in this area for the remainder our stay.) Issue 3 – A suite was being renovated near our room and on several instances we had to walk through construction materials to get to our room. (We didn’t complain about the renovation as we had already unpacked and didn’t want to waste time moving to another room, however, no guest should have to walk though construction materials to get to their room in a luxury hotel!)

Overall: We had a very nice stay at Hotel Mazarin. The staff was very friendly, and we loved the location and the amenities. I am rating this hotel as 4 stars instead of 5 due to the three issues noted above. As this is a newer hotel, I am sure that these items will be fine-tuned shortly. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends, and would stay here again on a future trip to NOLA.

“Great Place To Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

I just returned home from a very enjoyable 3-night stay at Hotel Mazarin in New Orleans French Quarter. It is as nice of a hotel as any I have ever stayed. It is old in the best sense of the word. It is beautifully maintained in classic New Orleans style, but my room was as modern and spacious as any you will find in a new hotel. My very reasonable rate included an excellent full breakfast buffet. This hotel has everything going for it - location, luxury and value. I chose the Mazarin because of the overwhelming number of positive Tripadvisor reviews and was not led wrong. I did notice the few negative reviews complained about noise. This hotel is just off Bourbon Street, yet I heard nothing from its crowded streets. The hotel has a very quiet and dignified atmosphere. In any hotel there is that risk of the unlucky draw to have a room next to or near some drunken fool making noise at 2:00 a.m. Don’t let those reviews keep you from trying the Mazarin.

“great mardi gras stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

I was very impressed with the level of service and protection during our stay for mardi gras 2013. The staff ensured we had everything we needed. They hired extra security to ensure we were safe and they always greeted us and welcomed us back safe and sound each night. They were extremely helpful in getting us to the locations we wanted to visit. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The only problem we had was with the mardi gras closures as we had to walk some distances to catch cabs to see certain locations. I will definitely stay here again! It was expensive for mardi gras but prices are very reasonable otherwise. Oh and the complementary buffet was amazing with tons of variety!
