“Friendly, clean hotel in the center of the French quarter”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

We have stayed in many hotels in Nola and this was one of my favorites. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and even gave us free drink coupons at the bar because we looked like we neededp a" pick-me-up!" We had a balcony room which faced the street. The balcony was fun And we left the doors open all night. It was loud- you could hear the music and drunkenness of bourbon street but to us that was part of the fun! By closing the doors most of the noise could be muffled. The room was clean and the bed and pillows were awesome! Breakfast was Good- bacon, eggs, grits, fruit. I overheard one of the servers say they make pancakes and omlettes to order as well! Overall this hotel was great.

Hotel is great location for people looking to enjoy Bourbon St. Decor is nice inside, rooms are nice and clean, courtyard is really pretty, but extereria of building is a little unfinished, needs some paint and a better sign. Shower was nice but water floods the bathroom and bedroom which caused me to slip. Staff are really friendly and helpful, the free breakfast is also great. Price is also really good for what you get. Other than the shower flooding issue, the night we stayed there was a wedding from 6-10pm, that really didnt end until closer to midnight. After a long day of travel and dinner and fun in the Quarter, my wife and I were ready to sleep, but the music from the wedding and voices of the guest kept us up late. The hotel is loud, so if you are looking for a more romantic experience this is probably not the perfect hotel for you, but then again, if its romance you want maybe Bourbon street is not for you. Also, request a balcony. The interior rooms are quite dark. I would stay here again, but probably check at some nicer placers also.

Everything about the Hotel Mazarin is exceptional! This was our first visit to New Orleans, and we wanted to stay somewhere intimately reflective of the culture. Although the exterior is modest, the experience within is one of comfort, grandeur, and Southern hospitality. The rooms (and lovely courtyard) are elegant and sparkling - the decor certainly captures essence of the French Quarter. We loved the marble floors and crystal chandeliers. Beds are exceptionally comfortable - feel almost cloud-like, but yet provide nice support. The selection of food at the breakfast buffet was wide, fresh, and beautifully displayed. (Also, be sure to try the fruited water in the courtuard - it's wonderfully refreshing after a warm day of touring). However, the staff truly made our stay memorable. We can't say enough about everyone from the front desk to housekeeping to breakfast staff to valet - their friendliness, efficiency, willingness to be helpful, and wonderful advise about everything from restaurant suggestions to how to navigate the city and beyond. The convenient location of the hotel is within walking distance of Bourbon & Royal Streets and all of the French Quarter sites, but actually provides a tranquil respite from the party scene for a quiet night's sleep. It's obvious that the Hotel Mazarin takes great pride in providing the highest quality accommodations and service for their guests!

We had the unexpected pleasure of evacuating to the Hotel Mazarin during Hurricane Isaac. We are, obviously, locals and had been hearing the positive buzz about this place so we decided it was a perfect time to check it out. We were wowed from the moment we tucked into the elegant comfort of this gem in the heart of the Quarter. I am going to purposely skip over the staff, for a bit, to describe our room - gorgeous decor, spotless, sexy marble floors and best of all a bed like a fluffy cloud - be warned...it is not a bed you want to leave. But you will when you discover the awesome complimentarily breakfast they offer to their guests!! And not just a bunch of carbs only contential breakfast - awesome New Orleans coffee, local pastries, great selection of meats and really good/not dry eggs - you need this fortification in the French Quarter, really, you do. Back to the staff - we were amazed at the solid staff who, literally during a hurricane, greeted us with smiles and acted as though there was no impending disaster- a great comfort to my mother who was close to freaking out. One gentleman, Jeff, was literally present behind the desk, no matter what hour we went through the lobby - we wondered when or if he ever slept!! Our heartfelt compliments and local recommendation to this true gem.

First time in New Orleans and we decided to stay in the French Quarter at Hotel Mazarin in a superior queen room. The hotel and our room was lovely, beautifully decorated and furnished.

Our room had two queens, both of which were fairly soft beds and not that comfy. I'm not sure if all the beds were this soft but I was sort of surprised as the hotel cost,   led me to assume the beds would be just as classy as the decor and furnishings.

My only complaint was the noise, and perhaps take this as a warning if you want somewhere quiet to sleep and/or relax. The hotel design is centred around a large court yard (the courtyard below is where guests eat breakfast and while we were there it was used for wedding ceremony - which noise carried on until 3 am).

The design means all the rooms exit onto a walkway on different levels that looks onto the centre court yard. As you are staying in the French Quarter the hotel had quite a lot of young guests who often came back late at night drunk, and we're very noisy. The noise was also somewhat amplified due to the fact all rooms open and closed around the courtyard and people's voices seemed to travel quite easily irrespective of which floor the noise was coming from.

We stayed there for 4 nights and it was noisy all night every night until around 4:30 am approximately - when the last people seemed to get back from there night out. Because of this I would say the hotel would be better for younger guests than say families or people who may be fussy about noise.

The hotel is in a great location to get to all the restaurants, and bars and perhaps why so many young people choose this as a popular location to stay. The room we had (despite the beds) was good. The shower/bathroom was very nice, bed sheets and pillows were of high quality and so were the towels (they were re-stacked in abundance in our bathroom every day!).

One thing to note is the breakfast everyday was fantastic! There was a nice, tasty and plentiful selection of fresh fruit, juices, breads, pastries, muffins, hot breakfast items etc. We are currently on a long vacation and have stayed at many hotels so far and the Mazarin by far has provided the best breakfast service - can highly recommend.

In summary - I would recommend this hotel for perhaps younger people than say families or those in need of peace and quiet. The rooms are beautifully decorated, very clean , and extremely friendly hotel staff! The hotel is only a short walk from all the bars, and some nice restaurants.

The Hotel i well worth your money and the staff and the food are excellent. I have had the opportunity to stay at a couple hotels and this one tops them all great great service and the free breakfast so good not like your traditional hotel breakfast. I'm so glad I chose to change hotels and stay here it was well worth it.

I have nothing negative to say about the hotel. It's beautiful, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Free breakfast, walking distance to Bourbon street but not too loud when back in the room. I would stay here again in a minute!
