4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2012

We stayed at Hotel Mazarin in April 2012. The location is great--steps to Bourbon but you don't hear the music and crowds all night long. We had a superior king (no balcony). The room had been redone since our last stay (was St. Louis hotel then, new ownership now). We had a huge walk in shower and a large dressing area with two nice pedestal sinks. The bed was great--slept very well. There wasn't a mini fridge. You can hear noise from the courtyard (but you hear the courtyard noise at any hotel with a courtyard), so if you are a light sleeper that may bother you (we didn't mind). The breakfast is good (bacon, eggs, grits, fruit, cereal, pastries, etc). Not sure why, but there isn't water available at breakfast, only juice. Overall, it is a good hotel in a convenient location for your New Orleans stay. Valet is pricey, but it's that way at every New Orleans hotel.

We spent our 40th anniversary at The Mazarin and can't say enough about the very clean and beautiful accommodations ( which were excellent) nor the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, who NEVER failed us on any request or question. The breakfast is an excellent one to enjoy in the beautiful courtyard. It's central French Quarter location is PERFECT! Walk out the front and you're a very, very, very short stroll from the finest restaurants! Arnaud's, Broussard's, Galitoire's, Brennan's and just feet from the shops on Royal Street Quiet and relaxing even with it's proximity to Bourbon St. at nite. The very comfortable king bed, soft sheets and plush pillows put you to sleep immediately. We've stayed at other great hotels in the French Quarter, but this one is truly SPECIAL. If you prefer a world-class intimate, smaller hotel, this is it.

Fire alarms constantly going off, staff is very rude and the complimentary breakfast is no different than the cheap hotels. Would not advise this hotel to anyone. There are a lot nicer hotels in the area.

If you're traveling on business, beware. My room opened directly onto the courtyard, which is open to the street in one corner. So a there is a lot of noise. You hear people talking while they're walking to their rooms, and you can hear noise from outside on the street when it gets loud (which it often does). I don't know if they have any rooms that aren't on the courtyard, but if you are in N.O. to party, it's probably a great place to stay. The staff was great, the bed/amenities are great. It's just not for every traveler.

Room Tip: Avoid the courtyard if you want a good night's sleep.

Had 5 wonderful mother/daughter days at the Mazarin. The location was great. Clean, nice size rooms with fantastic shower and beds very comfortable. Loved sitting in the courtyard for breakfast. Friendly with great service, especially Rene. Has the New Orleans charm and would definitely stay again. Patrick's wine bar in the hotel is a jewel.

Room Tip: second floor over looking the courtyard great.

Excellent location..1/2 block from Bourbon St and Royal Street. We got married in the courtyard...wow so romantic and it's covered so it was protected from rain. We had a room that faced the courtyard--very noisy from late night crowds coming back and enjoying drinks in the courtyard until 4am. We also had a window that faced the road...cars all night long playing loud music...NOISY but earplugs made it more tolerable. Breakfast was included and was excellent served in the beautiful courtyard with the fountain. Great bed, linen, bathroom, and looking forward to staying there again on our anniversaries......

Room Tip: No pool...If you want quiet, do not get a courtyqrd room....
