“Great location, Great Views, but Outdated Room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I went to school in New Orleans and married a guy from the city, so staying at a hotel in New Orleans (for a business trip) was a first for me! I chose the Westin because of the location.

My room overlooked the Riverwalk and the Mississippi. I loved being able to hear the calliope on the steamboats play because it's not something you hear every day (please note: you can definitely hear the boats and the calliope from your room, but thankfully it's gone by night time). However, my room had ventilation issues, and the bathroom, though clean, was a bit rundown. My business trip took me to Baton Rouge for a few days before returning to New Orleans, but by the time I left for Baton Rouge, my allergies were at full-on attack, so I chose to stay at Loews on the tail-end of my trip instead of returning to the Westin.

I heard that the Westin was in the process of renovating rooms -- not sure if that's a rumor, but if it is, perhaps the room I stayed at was one of the older, not-yet renovated rooms. With that said, the location of the hotel is great, and if your room does not have ventilation issues, it is a great place to stay. I'm sad it didn't work out for me.

If you want to be a little further out from Bourbon Street, but near high end shopping, Westin is the place. The views from the main lobby are breathtaking. It's a good business venue for meetings.

The rooms are fine, but for a non-smoking floor, I still kept smelling this lingering old smoke odor. The gym in the hotel is excellent. It's very large with several machines, mats and balance balls.

The Westin Canal Place always gives me the stay I expect.

In all of my stays there, the rooms have always been clean and spacious and the staff very courteous (and accommodating!). The room service menu / restaurant menu offer good (if not very inspiring) options, but there are a number of good restaurants in the area.

The workout room has a wide variety of machines / space. The rooftop pool, while a cool concept, comes off as run down and unused (then again, I was here during the spring - not prime pool time).

I wouldn't come to New Orleans specifically to stay at the Westin, but if you're looking for a nice, clean, centrally located hotel, the Westin is always a good option.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the river

It is a renovated hotel that seriously needs a club level. The service is pedestrian and it is somewhat inconveniently located on the 11th floor of the building requiring two elevator rides to your room. To the good side is it is walking district to most things you want to do in NOLA. Recognition of Starwood members is nice but it needs the club level to make us feel special.

The Westin is in a great location, right by the water and walking distance to all points of the French Quarter. It is nice that it is away from Bourbon Street so is very quiet. The hotel could use some updating, it seems like it has been several years since even painting was done. The rooms are large and comfortable. The valet/doormen are excellent ambassadors for the hotel, especially Ray and Don; consistently cheerful and helpful they are more than willing to share their local knowledge with travellers to help choose restaurants, outings etc. Along with Tamika at the front desk they made our stay a great experience.

Room Tip: The lobby, restaurant and bar are on the 11th floor and the conference rooms are on 12, so it is nic...

Very simple rooms and bad paint job
Bathroom has only room for basically one person's towel etc. No night light.

Lobby bar and Restaurant:
Service quite slow and bad. Manager not more accommodating either.

Two elevator banks: from street level to lobby level (11th), and then a different elevator to rooms - quite inconvenient.

Overall quite dissatisfied, mostly with the service.

The Westin was classy and comfortable! Service was impeccable, staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Location is perfect. View overlooking the River was very nice. I would definitely stay there again, as a matter of fact I hope to stay there again.
