This place is perfectly placed if you want to experience the nightlife of New Orleans, namely Bourbon Street, but also want to be able to escape it once you have drank to your limit!
We had two great nights out on Bourbon street but the place is a dive (at least the straight part is - once you get to the gay section it smartens up again and the vibe, and smell, isn't as invasive!).
The hotel was the perfect distance (a 10 minute walk) from the action and we were always relieved to get back their at the end of the night. We didn't sample the bar but it had a great ambiance and the drinks and food drew in a good crowd. The only issue is that it is in the reception so there is a bit of an overlap there but what isn't obvious from the website is the great chill-out room across the road in the second building. They have an air hockey table, board games, and the gym is upstairs. You can chill-out here nicely.
The decor of the lobby is reflected throughout the hotel and it celebrates Louisiana tradition in a contemporary and artistic manner. The room was very spacious with some very nice decorative elements however there was not much storage space. I will concede that we had four cases though so for if you are travelling lighter it would be fine.
Great bathroom with luxurious power shower. Again the decor was stylish with an industrial theme.
The staff were friendly and helpful when we needed them. We checked in at 1am in the morning which was no problem for them (no bell-boy though).
All in all this is a boutique hotel which doesn't like one which is the best combination I think. I would definitely recommend for those who want to be in the fringe of all the action.
