“We left early!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013 via mobile

We checked in last night and the front desk lady was rude and the lobby was so dark and creepy. We went to the room which for $800 for 4 nights was super over priced. The room we got didn't look anything like the pictures and after checking out the staff I honestly was afraid to let them clean our room. The couple across from us checked out early as well. I could hear them shower...not somewhere I wanna be. The breakfast was just bagels and cereals. We literally priced lined another hotel (royal st Charles) and walked there from this hotel. Never again. It's super creepy and hidden fees do not make this a Bargain.

“Comfortable, charming and great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

Staff was very helpful and welcoming. Our room was charming, quiet, roomier than I had expected, well appointed, perfectly clean. The location couldn't be better-- within just a couple blocks of the French Quarter, but out of the way enough that our seventh-floor room was blissfully quiet. We got a good rate and knew about the daily surcharge and parking fee ahead of time, so that didn't surprise or bother us. For New Orleans hotels right at the heart of things, this was not unreasonably priced. I highly recommend.

“Dirty- Staff is Rude”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

There were beer bottles all over our room (windowsill, trash can) when we moved in. I brought one down to the front desk and said "These are all over our room- can you check to see if you put us in a room that wasn't cleaned?" The staff person's response was to take the beer bottle, throw it away and say "anything else?"

No apology, no effort to make it right... needless to say, don't stay here.

“I would not stay here again!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

My 40th birthday trip to NYC was cancelled due to Storm Nemo. We decided to drive over to New Orleans (from Tallahassee, FL) as a backup plan. It was Mardi Gras weekend. I felt fortunate to find a room available on a third-party booking site for $200 a night. Upon check-in, we were informed that there was also a $40 a day valet parking fee (even though it was posted as $32 outside) and a $9.95 resort fee (wtf?!) that included local and long distance calls, wifi, and a safe in our room. So that is another $150 on top of the already ridiculous per-night cost? Uh, okay. The room was in dire need of updating. The bathroom ceiling was moldy and rusted in areas. The brick wall also had what appeared to be mold on it. Again, I felt fortunate to find a room during Mardi Gras so I didn't complain. The first night we were awoken by the fire alarm in the middle of the night. I called the front desk and they weren't aware of the alarm going off and said I didn't need to leave the building. Our ice machine on our floor never worked. It also just happened to be outside our door and was beeping all day Saturday and Saturday night. They finally stopped the beeping after I called about it but the ice machine never worked the entire time we were there. A maintenance person said that the machine hadn't worked in the 4 months he'd been employed there. The real kicker was Sunday night when I was attempting to take a shower and heard a rush of water overhead. The next thing I knew water was pouring into my shower from the ceiling. It was coming from the same area that was moldy. I guess this is an existing issue. Maintenance was called and said that someone in the room above us was taking a bath. So disgusting. Maintenance also acted like it wasn't a big deal and the issue just needed some "caulking." I swear the entire ceiling in that bathroom is going to fall in. After some extended debate, we did get refunded for our last night. We still paid over $650 for two nights in this less than desirable hotel. You would think they could update their rooms with what they charge. I am tempted to call and try to get more money refunded but I'm not sure I can get anywhere after reading other reviews. The front desk staff wasn't friendly upon check-in or with our issue Sunday night, so I feel like calling now would prove unsuccessful. Anyway, the location is the only thing this hotel has going for it. We were very close to the French Quarter. However, I would NOT recommend staying here! The hotel was a huge disappointment and a rip-off, even during Mardi Gras.

“Good central location.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

Stayed for one night after the Super Bowl 2013 weekend. The hotel is located just off Canal Street and a five minute walk to the French Quarter. The hotel itself is now looking a bit dated and is fraying at the edges. My room was on an upper floor so I did not suffer from any noise. The room was on the small side but with an adequate bathroom. The plumbing is need of attention, I am sure the noise of the pipes when I took a shower must have annoyed my fellow guests. Reported this and the fact that my in-room needed new batteries to reception on my way out for the evening. Neither were rectified before I checked out next morning. Seems a great location for the mardi gras as they were building the stands in the same street.
