“Ups and downs”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2014

We came to Nola in search of a fun vacation. The monte leone had great reviews so we came. The staff is friendly specially miss Ann at the concierge and the Criollo restaurant manager.
Nevertheless we had bad experiences such as finding holes in the bed sheets. Also we called one day to housekeeping to have our room made ASAP but they never came, we'll like 2 hours later. Finally I became ill and we asked for a doctor, firstly they don't have medical contacts but they don't allow a dr to do a house call in the room due to a possible liability. All they did was to refer us to a clinic nearby.

The hotel is really well located in the heart of the French Quarter. This is ideal when you have only 2-3 days to visit New Orleans. The decor is lovely and my friend and I stayed in a room on the 14th floor with nice views of the river. We didn't have any issues with noise coming from the street.
I had breakfast in the restaurant one morning and it was delicious. The Carousel Bar is fun to do once if you can sit on the turning platform. Their Hurricanes were very tasty!
The staff from front desk to bellman to waiters and bartenders were very friendly and helpful.
The only thing that I would say could have been better is the mattress. It was soft and sagging in the middle and my back was a bit sore because of it.

I love this hotel! It is charming and elegant with an exceptional staff. The Carousel Bar has the best bar bites, the Jambalaya is fabulous! The location is perfect to get all over the Quarter but at block of the insanity of a Bourbon Street makes for a great nights sleep. Can't wait to go back!

I've stayed at Hotel Monteleone many times for both business and personal travel, most recently on Easter Weekend 2014. I have had a great experience every time. To get the authentic New Orleans experience and also get high quality service, food, and accommodations, it is the best place in the city. The management is helpful and really shows its Southern hospitality.

Spent five nights here for the French Quarter Festival and really enjoyed it. Biggest pro is a near-perfect location, right smack in the middle of the French Quarter. Also loved the famous Carousel Bar right off the lobby - great experience with well-crafted cocktails. We particularly enjoyed the Bloody Marys and the Pimms Cup. Staff were all helpful and pleasant, and the rooftop pool is a nice touch. I also liked the lobby which was beautiful (although a tad small and constantly hectic) and the elevator setup, with three different banks to use depending on what "wing" of the property you were in.

The rooms were very nice, although a little cramped. We stayed on the "haunted" 14th Floor, and I am sorry to report that our stay had no paranormal activity. The beds were way too soft for my liking, and the bathroom a bit clumsy with the shower curtain bowing out in front of the sink a bit unless it was completely opened to the other direction. We also had some areas of the wallpaper that were beginning to peel apart at the seams and a TV that lost reception a handful of times during our stay.

All-in-all a very good stay - would definitely return.

New Orleans is our 'home away from home' and we make the trip as often as we can. We love to stay in the Quarter or occasionally in the Garden District. We prefer the 'local' hotels to the chains, as well as ones with character. The Monteleone fits the bill on all fronts. We absolutely love the hotel, the staff, the envirnonment, and location. The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed. Bathrooms can run small, especially if two people are attempting to get ready at the same time, but the bathroom itself is very clean with good amenities. Only reason for the 4/5 rating on value is that there are cheaper places in the Quarter (but not worth the difference in quality and service) and the size of the bathroom makes us have to 'plan' getting ready to go out so only one is in there at a time. We begin and end our visit in the Carousel Bar, whether getting ready for dinner or waiting on the shuttle back to the airport. The service there is some of the best at any establishment we visit in New Orleans. Pool area is also fairly small, if there is a large crowd up there, it can be a turn-off, but otherwise it is a beautiful view, nice pool bar/service, and a wonderful place to unwind after being out in the city or at a festival. The location makes it an easy walk throughout the Quarter, even to the events held over near the U.S. Mint and French Market. Plus, being off Bourbon Street, we never have had a noise issue at night. We tend to avoid the Bourbon Street scene anyway, so being off Royal Street is a plus. The staff has always jumped to assist us in any way needed, plus the recommendations are almost universally on-target whether for local music events or restaurants. Being close to Canal, we have walked to restauarants in the CBD without an issue or the staff has coordinated a cab with ease and no wait time. We took the kids for the first time on a short weekend overnight this trip to introduce them to the city and the service remained top notch, even catered to the kids. Can't make a stronger recommendation for this hotel. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed.

We were in New Orleans for Easter weekend and wanted to be in the French Quarter. The hotel is perfectly located and was very reasonably priced. The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly and accommodating. The weekend was great and we definitely will return!
