“Royal Stay at Monteleone”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

We stayed here recently over a four day weekend. We had two rooms, one premium double and one premium king. Both rooms were very nice with plenty of room. They readily accommodated our request for the two rooms to be near each other. They were across the hall. This was my first stay here. On previous trips I had wanted to stay here because of the location and because it is a beautiful building. Finally for this trip, the price was right. Check in was very quick and the staff were friendly. We were on the 11th floor, and the king room had a great view towards Jackson Square and the river. The rooms were mostly clean with some minor lapses such as a few stains on the carpet, hair in the bathroom, and coffee stains in the sink. I expected things to be perfectly clean for such a nice hotel. Other than that, the rooms were clean, air conditioning worked well, and it was quiet. We did not use the restaurant, bar or pool, but they all looked clean and well maintained. Most times there was a door man opening the door. The best thing about staying at this hotel was the location. Bourbon Street is a block away, there are plenty of restaurants within a five minute walk, and there is a Walgreens right on the corner. It was an easy walk to Jackson Square, the Casino, etc. I would definitely recommend this hotel for its location, classic historic atmosphere, and service. I couldn't rate it excellent because of the cleanliness issues, but would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay here on a short New Orleans trip. The staff was very friendly, and the room was fresh and clean. The location is perfect for the things we wanted to do. This historic hotel has kept up with the times, while still retaining its old southern charm. Highly Recommend!!!!!

I've stayed here sinse the 60's when i was going to college.with my 1'st wife, 2'nd wife, and recently had a trip planned in June with my red headed mean girlfriend(we were going to lv but thank goodness we soberd-up) anyway the hotel is a class act! my 2'nd wife and i had reservations at the la-pavion, got there and the reservations were in Marilyn!!there was a convention in town every thing in the quarter was full!! but the concinceaire@the monteleone made it happen for us.I then had a 68 chevy we took an when we pulled in the garage the guy that took my baby on the elevator liked the 3-speed as well as i did.you could hear him pleeling rubber all the way to park it. you can bet i waited for him to come down an get off the elevator.Otherwise the length of time w've stayed there it's a southern experience!!

Room Tip: the lowest floor you can book, the least expensive it seems to be.

Hadn't stayed at the Monteleone in years, but wanted to give it a try again. The room and beds were comfortable. Problem was that in South Louisiana in July the air conditioning needs to work really well. We checked in, unpacked and then decided where to go for dinner. When we returned around 8:30 the room was still warm. We couldn't get comfortable until the temps outside dropped into the upper to mid 70's. Will probably pass on our next trip to the city.

Was very pleased and impressed with our stay at this charming hotel with a lot of character. Sometimes your standard "box" hotel gets tiring and monotonous. Hotel Monteleone is not a box hotel, it is incredibly full of Southern charm, and the staff are very personal and attentive and provide first class customer service. The location is perfect. One block from Bourbon Street, and one block from Canal Street - both streets giving you much to do and see and places to eat. The hotel has a famous Carrousel bar - which has been seen in many movies. The hotel has been used for a number of movies - actually recognized some places from movies. There is a great book written about the history of the hotel. I was blown away with how loyal the 4th generation owner family is with their employees, and how loyal the employees are to the hotel. An example - after the hurricane flood - the owner provided transportation from around the country for the employees to return back to have a job. He continued to pay them even when their jobs hadn't started up yet. He provided free housing for them until they were back on their feet. After hearing this, my heart was warmed. This is the kind of hotel I want to support. So, I have booked a conference for several hundred people at this hotel for the next two years. After touring the meeting rooms, ballroom, and banquet facilities - I am amazed with the expensive furnishing and how wonderful they are to work with. The top floor of the hotel provides the best view of the French Quarters - as it is by far the tallest building in the French Quarters. Beautiful pool at the top floor. I'm excited to return to this wonderful hotel. When you're there - talk with some of the employees who look like they may have been there for many years - I did, and it was delightful to visit with them about how much they love working there. I was very impressed and I'm looking forward to returning both for business conference and for pleasure.

We recently travelled to NOLA to celebrate my husband's birthday and were told to come here. The recommendation was great. The location of the hotel in the heart of the French quarter was perfect. When we entered the lobby it was quite impressive. Stunning decor and great checkin procedure. We loved the Carousel bar and the rooftop pool was fabulous. The bellmen were courteous and helpful.
2complaints :getting our rental car took a lot of time so be ready to wait.
also the room was a bit small but understandable because of the age of this "grand dame" of the city. We will absolutely return and stay here again.

we loved the character of this New Orleans Hotel. The entrance is so southern and there is a revolving bar near the entrance that was always busy. The staff was so welcoming and the room were full of charm. the only downside was that the springy mattress needed to be updated.
We took a private 2 hour tour with the hotel's chauffeur which turned out to be the highlight of the weekend. The hotel is very close to our favorite restaurant in the French quarters- Acme Oyster House

Room Tip: there is constant partying in the French Quarters
