“lovely piece of history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

Had a wonderful stay here during a convention. This hotel is right smack in the middle of the French Quarter. It is walking distance to many attractions. It makes for a very convenient night out!! The hotel itself is beautiful. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. I also found the price to be fairly reasonable considering the location. Highly recommend!!!

I've stayed in this hotel twice and both times I've been very pleased. It's an old building, so the rooms are smaller than you might be used to in other upscale hotels, but everything is imbued with character and the finishes are luxurious - marble and glass in the bathroom, with silver trays and such. The bed was comfortable and the decorating cozy. I was very happy that the alarm clock was also an iPhone docking station - a very nice touch! The staff is always visible, helpful, and professional. It's in an excellent location (a block from Bourbon Street, three blocks from the shops at Canal Place, a block from Canal Street, etc.), and has attached valet parking. It's a lovely home away from home.

Hotel Monteleone is between Bourbon streets wild action, the river walk and shopping area, but still on a quiet street. We had two rooms, We had to change rooms right after check in as they had no air conditioning working. We were placed in double bed rooms, no king rooms were available. The bed comfortable, bathroom tiny but very clean. Valet parking was pretty easy, but expensive. No view.

This is not my first stay at Hotel Monteleone. I always try to stay here if I can find a reasonable price as I think this is the best hotel in NOLA. This hotel has a fantastic location in the French Qt. It is within walking distance of most of the tourist attractions in the French Qt as well as those on Canal Street such as Aquarium, Casino etc. It is close to the the 3 street car lines and one street away from Bourbon Street. Some of the very best restaurants in NOLA are within 2-3 blocks. The hotel itself is lovely. We stayed on the 15th floor and had a nice view of the city. Even though this hotel is 1 street over from Bourbon Street it was not noisy at night unless you were up on the roof which has a really nice swimming pool and bar. There is a Walgreen's across the street which had some great deals on souvenirs. The carousal bar was a nice place to relax but we really didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel-way too much to see and experience outside the hotel. We had a good size standard double room which came with a refrigerator, safe and possibly a microwave, can't remember as we came to NOLA to eat all the fabulous food so we didn't use the microwave. The room and bathroom were clean, the bed comfortable, and the amenities were very nice. Lots of fluffy towels and pillows.
The staff was excellent, very friendly and helpful answering all questions with a smile. And best of all the price
was very reasonable as we stayed on off days Sun-Wed. I would definitely try to stay here again when I return to NOLA.

Room Tip: the standard double room is very nice. we asked the person who checked us in to choose a good room a...

My husband and I have stayed at this hotel often. It is romantic and beautiful...and since it is on Royal street...great shopping and restaurants are only steps away. We stayed in the Vieux Carre Suite (room 1277) this trip. We had great views of the quarter and the Mississippi River. The room was spacious with a living room and it even had a powder room! The decor is traditional....the rooms are clean....and we had the sweetest housekeeper. The grab and go breakfast was convenient. This will not be our last stay at Monteleone.

Room Tip: The tower above the garage has better views but more street noise. We could hear the street noise o...

Excellent location but front rooms noisy. I have no real complaints re hotel services although booking was problematic as they had no note of our friend's booking despite us producing a pre paid voucher. On checking the credit card bill on our return, I was annoyed to find they had deducted $487 out our account the day after we left the hotel. They had charged our account for another persons bill. It took us 3 expensive long distance phone calls to get someone to deal with this and they kept referring to this as " our mistake" that they would try and rectify ! Our email to the general manager was not acknowledged . This mistake has left us out of pocket with not even an apology from hotel management. Very poor.

Room Tip: Get a room away from front of hotel

Stayed at the Hotel Monteleone 10/24-10/28 for work. The room was small but done nicely and he bed was comfortable. Upon arrival I tried to take a nap after getting up early to fly that day. I never did get to rest. The housekeeping staff was going in and out of rooms, slamming the doors constantly. You should know the hotel is 1 block off of Bourbon Street where the party never ends. People were on the streets all night long shouting and screaming. The sirens never end either. Things quieted down between 4 to 6 a.m. each morning. I often observed drug deals on the corner outside the hotel. I never felt safe while I stayed there. As a women, this is an issue for me.

The good things -- the staff is very friendly and helpful. The beds comfortable. The bathroom was done very nicely but very small, although adequate for one person.

I am traveling back to NOLA in January and staying somewhere further away from this area.
