“Weekend Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

My husband and I have stayed at this hotel often. It is romantic and beautiful...and since it is on Royal street...great shopping and restaurants are only steps away. We stayed in the Vieux Carre Suite (room 1277) this trip. We had great views of the quarter and the Mississippi River. The room was spacious with a living room and it even had a powder room! The decor is traditional....the rooms are clean....and we had the sweetest housekeeper. The grab and go breakfast was convenient. This will not be our last stay at Monteleone.

Room Tip: The tower above the garage has better views but more street noise. We could hear the street noise o...

Excellent location but front rooms noisy. I have no real complaints re hotel services although booking was problematic as they had no note of our friend's booking despite us producing a pre paid voucher. On checking the credit card bill on our return, I was annoyed to find they had deducted $487 out our account the day after we left the hotel. They had charged our account for another persons bill. It took us 3 expensive long distance phone calls to get someone to deal with this and they kept referring to this as " our mistake" that they would try and rectify ! Our email to the general manager was not acknowledged . This mistake has left us out of pocket with not even an apology from hotel management. Very poor.

Room Tip: Get a room away from front of hotel

Stayed at the Hotel Monteleone 10/24-10/28 for work. The room was small but done nicely and he bed was comfortable. Upon arrival I tried to take a nap after getting up early to fly that day. I never did get to rest. The housekeeping staff was going in and out of rooms, slamming the doors constantly. You should know the hotel is 1 block off of Bourbon Street where the party never ends. People were on the streets all night long shouting and screaming. The sirens never end either. Things quieted down between 4 to 6 a.m. each morning. I often observed drug deals on the corner outside the hotel. I never felt safe while I stayed there. As a women, this is an issue for me.

The good things -- the staff is very friendly and helpful. The beds comfortable. The bathroom was done very nicely but very small, although adequate for one person.

I am traveling back to NOLA in January and staying somewhere further away from this area.

My wife and I spent one night in New Orleans for one reason ....to have a nice evening meal followed by Brunch the next day. We chose to stay at the Monteleone for its great French Quarter location. We were extremely pleased with the entire experience. The entire staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The Front Desk staff allowed us to have a late check out so we wouldn't be rushed during our Brunch. The Carosel Bar is a "must visit". It has been remodeled since our last visit and is a lot more vibrant and welcoming. Our room was a preferred double and was more than adequate for our needs. It was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable.
All in all, it was a great experience. The Hotel Monteleone is excellent!

Ok, I know I said I would stay faithful to a different hotel but I must admit, that while my allegiances haven't changed, I now have 2 favorite hotels here and The Hotel Monteleone is one of them.

One great plus for Monte is that it really is alive and you always feel the energy of the hotel and its guests.

I came back again for Halloween and I couldn't have been happier with my stay. I wish it were warmer so I could've enjoyed the awesome pool but hey, there's always next time.

I look forward to coming back and chilling, lounging, swimming, spinning at the Carousel Bar, and eating at Criollo soon.

Stay here!

We had delightful stay at the Monteleone. There were eight of us in four rooms, including one handicap accessible. The rooms were lovely, and were enjoyed the historical ambiance and location in the French Quarter. It was worth the extra money to upgrade to a deluxe room. The rooms were large and we were away from the street noise. The food in the hotel restaurant was outstanding, as was the service. The view from the rooftop pool is great, esp. at night. Staff was very helpful and the concierge made good recommendations and helped make reservations at local restaurants.

We were not aware the hotel was supposed to be haunted, but experienced a wild ride in one of the hotel's elevators. Nothing short of the supernatural could explain it. Somehow it added to the whole experience and will not deter us from coming back.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a deluxe room. It's worth the little extra for a larger & quite room.

You got it, when you stay at Hotel Monteleone. Upon check in I was informed we'd be staying in a suite because that's how my hubby rolls :) The suite was big with a seperate sitting area with TV, desk and french doors to the bedroom. We had a great view. Could see all the barges and huge ships coming in. This hotel is close enough to the action that walking is a breeze but no located within the craziness that can be New Orleans. The period pieces in this hotel are incredible. So much charm. I dont know what a regular room looks like but this one was very nice. Would stay here again for sure!

Room Tip: Don't rent a car if you don't have to. The hotel charges $30 a day for parking!
