“Great experience that ended in disappointment”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013 via mobile

The room was nice, clean and a good size for a vacationing couple. No phone in room to ring front desk to ask any questions if needed. Breakfast offered was coffee and apple or orange. We were disturbed by staff beating against wall in office adjacent to our room where they were trying to kill a spider at 8:00am while we were trying to sleep. On the morning we were leaving we were able to park our car outside of the hotel but unaware to us or told to us by staff our car was towed due to the city cleaning the streets. Note the only sign that says anything about this is on the opposite end of the street and has black spray paint graffiti on it. We were not the only people this happened to that were trying to pack up and leave. $193.00 later after we had gotten our car back and returned to get our bags we asked to speak to a manager. The front desk manager Todd was very condisinding and spoke to me as if i was a native of New Orleans and that i should know how the sanitation system works there. I told him that noone informed us that we should not park on that street or told us of anywhere else to go and park. I asked what he was going to do to make it right and all he would say was that he was sorry to anything I said to or asked him. I told him I did not want to here him say he was sorry again because he obviously did not care because he had my money and that is all he cared about. He said he could not do anything because our reservation was made through amazon which i believe is crap. I feel that when you check in this should be mentioned if you are a guest and will be staying in there hotel on a Tuesday as a courtesy. That's not too much to ask!

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay with us. We are extremely disappointed to hear of the spider killing incident and apologize for the disturbance it may have caused you during your stay. In regards to the street cleaning, we expect our agents to relay this information to guests at check-in, however should they not do so, we have signs located in our lobby as well as at the front desk where our guests check-in that also indicate the days and times of street cleanings as to avoid our guest's vehicles from being towed. Unfortunately, due to the circumstances of your booking (via Amazon Local), we were unable to refund your money as your payment was made directly via Amazon Local. That being said, we would like to compensate you for the cost of your vehicle being towed, as you have indicated the front desk agent that checked you in did not provide the pertinent information to keep this from happening, however have not yet heard back from you via direct message on TripAdvisor. Please respond to the message, or contact us directly at the hotel so we can take care of this for you.

Thank you again for your feedback, as we take your suggestions very seriously and will do our best to keep this from happening again in the future. We look forward to hearing back from you.

My husband and I drove to Inn on St Peter, New Orleans,LA, a 750 mile trip. On the way we stayed at a hotel in Montgomery AL and had a bite to eat at a local eatery. My husband got very ill with what we later learned was food poisoning. We arrived in New Orleans a day early, and unfortunately was unable to check into the Inn as it was completely booked. Carol at the front desk, realizing my husband was ill worked to get us other accomadations for the night. We ended up going to an Urgent Care the next morning and when we returned to the Inn the next day for the rest of our stay, both Carol and Elisa, the director of housekeeping, rushed to get our room ready. They truly seemed concerned with my husband's well being. Carol has a very outgoing personality, and Elisa is very professional. Our room was on the balcony, very comfortable and well maintained. The only thing missing was an in-room refrigerator, but otherwise was very well appointed. We ended up needing to leave early and Carol got us reimbursement for the remainder of our reservations, something she initiated, which we very much appreciated. I definitely give this hotel and it's staff 2 thumbs up! Thank you Carol and Elisa. We highly recommend the Inn on St Peter and hope to return one day.

Room Tip: Rooms on the Balcony are relatively quiet and private.

Although we are extremely sorry to hear of your husband's food poisoning from his time in Alabama, we are pleased that our staff was able to do everything in their power to make your time in New Orleans as pleasant and comfortable as possible. At the Inn on St Peter, we consider our guests to be like family and will do everything in our power to ensure their stay with us leaves little left to be desired. Thank you for your kind words regarding our concerned and caring staff, as well as how much you enjoyed your guestroom. We look forward to seeing you again at the Inn on St Peter or any of our other French Quarter Guest Houses properties, upon your next visit to New Orleans!

We stayed at the Inn 2 nites and were very pleased with the overall cleanliness of the room and updated look. We also stayed on the bottom floor and it can be quite noisy in the morning with people coming down the stairs and going out of the courtyard. It's a great location everything was in walking distance. A huge negative for us though was the parking situation. The hotel doesn't have a lot or parking service and the parking lot that was recommended to us was about 6 blocks away on Rampart. It was a substantial walk and I don't know how comfortable we would have been walking from the lot to the hotel at night. We only used the lot once and found street parking the following night. (Be careful though with street parking because they will tow! They don't mess around!) The other drawback was that our room was never cleaned the entire time we were there! :( Overall it's a nice hotel, good location and great value. I would stay there again.

We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay at the Inn on St Peter as it sounds like you enjoyed your clean and newly renovated guestroom, as well as our prime location in the residential section of the French Quarter. As parking is at a premium in the French Quarter, we apologize for the inconvenience of having to walk a bit to get to the parking lot. However, we do offer a pedi-cab service to and from our gated lot, located at our sister property the Lamothe House, and find that our guests prefer parking there over the public lot off of Rampart. We regret to hear that your room was not serviced during your stay, and will take the opportunity to discuss this with our housekeeping team to ensure the issue is taken care of. Thank you again for sharing your experience with us and others on TripAdvisor and we look forward to having you back again upon your next visit to Nola!

My husband and I had room 4. A king bed room immediately off the check in office. While the room was super clean and the AC worked fantastic, which was worth a lot, the cleaning staff and general traffic outside our door was pretty loud. They wet not out of line or ugly, just talking and laughing and doing their business. I think our room was just in an unfortunate spot. The courtyard was very small, but the hotel was convenient and the staff was nice and helpful. Oh, and the bed was amazing!!

Room Tip: Do not stay in room #4!

We got great weekday rates, so we choose to stay at Inn on St. Peter. As other reviewers have mentioned, the courtyard was technically a courtyard but just barely and we had to walk up the narrow, metal staircase. It was too small to carry two large suitcases at the same time.

The room was small but very clean. The furniture only included 2 night stands, chest of drawers doubling as a TV stand and a very tall armoire for hanging clothes. The ice bucket and (nice, new keurig type) coffee pot were placed on top of the armoire. My wife was unable to reach these items and once I got them down, there was no place to put them. There is also no counter space in the bathroom, but simply a sink attached to the wall. We had to place our items on the back of the toliet.

Our room was not cleaned one day so I contacted the front desk and asked for new towels. They took care of this very quickly but then the room was not cleaned the following day either. The nice lady at the front desk took my information and promised me some compenstation. I was finally comp'ed a few days later after another phone call to the office.

The room's wood flooring, bed and furniture were very nice and clean and the bathroom was also clean. The shower water pressure was low but adequate. There were gaps around the outside door that allowed all kind of sounds into the room. St. Peter Street seems to have an attraction for loud motorcycles at all hours of the night. We felt very safe at this hotel but it is very isolated at night and we only saw one employee on the property at any one time. This kind of hotel and room may be just the right fit for some people, but we prefer more ammenities and service at our hotels.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay with us. We are pleased to hear that you found your guestroom to be so clean upon your arrival, as well as the rates you received to be so fair. As the Inn on St Peter is an historic property, a few of our guestrooms can be on the smaller side, however we have done our best to place the appropriate furniture in the rooms to ensure our guests do not feel cramped but still have enough space to place their items. We are extremely disappointed to hear of housekeeping not servicing your room and have taken the opportunity to discuss the matter with them to ensure it is taken care of immediately.

Stayed here two years ago and wrote a review because I enjoyed it. Came back and stayed the week of the 4th and it was beyond fantastic!!! Stayed in Room 21. It has a separate living/dining area and it was beautifully decorated. Modern furniture. Room was gorgeous. Found myself wishing I could live there!! The bed was so comfy. Did not hear anyone in the room next door. Peeked into that room (22 I think) because it was where I stayed two years ago and it was completely remodeled. Dark wood furniture. so pretty. Great location as always. Easy to find. Stumbled back a couple of times and had no trouble getting into room. Stay here! So worth it!!

Room Tip: Stay in Room 21 :) Ground floor and so quiet!

We are beyond thrilled to hear how much you enjoyed your stay with us over the Fourth of July Holiday weekend. It is truly music to our ears to hear from a guest that has not only seen the state of the property prior to all of our renovations, but then to praise all of the hard work we put into it! We appreciate the great feedback and hope to see you back again at any of our French Quarter Guest Houses properties, as they are all newly renovated as well!

My husband and I absolutely loved this place! It was recently renovated and the high ceilings made the rooms feel so much bigger than what they really were. The room and bathroom where expertly cleaned and tidy when we came back from exploring. The location is perfect for those who want to be in the middle of everything, but want to be able to sleep soundly at night. The Inn is 2 blocks away from the excitement of Bourbon street in the French district and 3 blocks away from Royal street (the art stores). Everyone on staff is so nice. Will stay there again.

Room Tip: There is an area away from the street that may be quieter. If you have problems with stairs talk...
