The hotel is located within walking distance of everything you need to reach in the French Quarter. Check-in was okay, but staff a bit confused. I would advise signing up for Starwood Membership to get access to the lounge. The Starwood Club floor rooms were great. It was like home away from home. I was there during the Budweiser conference and their group was noisy and you could hear them in the hallway. Otherwise, it was quiet and pleasant. The fitness center is well-equipped but busy during certain times like the pre-dinner hour. The restaurant food is okay, but overpriced like most hotels that cater to tourists.
I was there for a business meeting and the hotel meeting staff were quite unresponsive. Don't hold a business meeting there! Overall, I noticed that staff are uncertain about how to respond when asked to fulfill requests that they have not familiar or comfortable with. For example, I had trouble connecting to the Internet using their high-speed service. I was first on the phone with the hotel staff who then farmed me out to an external service. I was on the phone for 3 hours trying to get connected. Initially, staff simply put me on hold or hung up on me when I requested service or they they didn't understand the question, they said they'd call me back and didn't. Another example: I went to the restaurant and asked if I could order something to take to my room to eat while I packed to leave. The hostess said yes, but then said there were not containers for "take out" when I placed a order. Duh? Why offer to let me order? So, while the staff meant well, from catering, to check-in, to tech services, to restaurant staff, I encountered people who were uncertain or unclear about what they could or could not do. They need more training.
