The hotel is located within walking distance of everything you need to reach in the French Quarter. Check-in was okay, but staff a bit confused. I would advise signing up for Starwood Membership to get access to the lounge. The Starwood Club floor rooms were great. It was like home away from home. I was there during the Budweiser conference and their group was noisy and you could hear them in the hallway. Otherwise, it was quiet and pleasant. The fitness center is well-equipped but busy during certain times like the pre-dinner hour. The restaurant food is okay, but overpriced like most hotels that cater to tourists.

I was there for a business meeting and the hotel meeting staff were quite unresponsive. Don't hold a business meeting there! Overall, I noticed that staff are uncertain about how to respond when asked to fulfill requests that they have not familiar or comfortable with. For example, I had trouble connecting to the Internet using their high-speed service. I was first on the phone with the hotel staff who then farmed me out to an external service. I was on the phone for 3 hours trying to get connected. Initially, staff simply put me on hold or hung up on me when I requested service or they they didn't understand the question, they said they'd call me back and didn't. Another example: I went to the restaurant and asked if I could order something to take to my room to eat while I packed to leave. The hostess said yes, but then said there were not containers for "take out" when I placed a order. Duh? Why offer to let me order? So, while the staff meant well, from catering, to check-in, to tech services, to restaurant staff, I encountered people who were uncertain or unclear about what they could or could not do. They need more training.

My husband and I spent 5 nights at the Sheraton as we were in town for jazz fest and this was the only hotel available. As far as location, it is in the center of it all, walking distance to Riverwalk, French Quarter, Harrahs, and Warehouse District. However, the rooms were very small and had paper thin walls and no mini-fridge. The fitness center and pool are on the same floor as the meeting rooms which was awkward. And go in the pool at your own risk.. it was dirty and unkept.

Stayed at the Sheraton NO for a business convention. This is a very nice hotel, centrally located. Rooms were large. Given the devastation that had occurred in the area just a year before, the hotel is in really good condition. Staff friendly and helpful.

When I read the below reviews, metsisme rated it as I feel it should be rated.
Granted, I do not stay in * star hotels and I would not have paid the $274 per night rate had I not won the rooms in a sales contest. We booked the 2 rooms @ one night to use a prize I won in a Sales contest, back in January. One room, with 2 beds to be used by the kids adjoined by the one room, king to be used by my husband & myself. We live in Baton Rouge but needed a weekend away and "touring New Orleans" seemed just the thing. We were able to park (at 1pm) prior to checking into the hotel (at 3pm) which was convenient, since we started our day early, and as earlier reviews suggest, the hotel is indeed convenient in location. We walked to Acme Oyster house, down Bourbon then back to check in. I stood behind one other person at check in and did have a bit of a wait however the staff seemed very attentive and made sure I was checked in as soon as possible. The lobby to the hotel is huge, Large TV Screen, bar in center and attentive waitstaff. Starbucks is open till 5pm. Our room was on floor 12, the pool/spa/fitness are on floor 8. The valet and bellhop were nice and helpful. Positives about the room: The view was fantastic....I could see the Harrahs Casino, the Riverwalk signs, and the Cruise ships and barges ambling down the Mississippi RIver...so beautiful I kept finding myself wandering over to the window to look. We visited the Pool and Spa and they seemed a bit small but perhaps that is not what Expensive Hotel Folks do at these hotels. We did enjoy the pool and the spa. There were many weddings that were going on this weekend and perhaps a few Frat get-to-gethers. The other positive about the room was the bed. Beds were a cloud - down covers ...down pillows....everyone in the family raved about the bedding. No refrigerator or Microwave in the rooms. I considered room service which seemed very fair ....considering...from crab cakes...to Muffelata's to a $23 seafood pasta...(had Pizza $15 ) the prices did not seem to be bad at all..they even had a kids menu that was very affordable. My husband won out and we found a cheap dinner at Domino's Pizza (go up Canal a few blocks then left) to appease the teenagers. I called Room Service a bit later and requested 2 wine glasses and a bucket of ice and was pleasantly rewarded with such very quickly for the bottle I had brought with me to celebrate. Check out was easy and the valet brought our vehicle to us. I believe the parking cost us $25 flat fee for the duration which would be an excellent rate given parking in the area. Okay - I must reveal the negatives : This is NOT the hotels fault, however we did have the problems with noise. Apparently there was a frat party or bridal party or something but my husband finally had to go outside the hotel room (at 3pm or something) and ask someone to please be quiet. Of course this was not well received by the drunk individual that caused all the noise ...but ...again - this is not the hotel's fault. However our kids heard it as well. I must leave this on a positive note. This hotel is located very well and the staff were very nice. The view is excellent the beds are divine and the location is wonderful.
