“convenient to French Quarter, confusing elavators and construction but quiet and comfortable room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

We stayed here one night arriving at 11:30 p.m. and checking out at 10 a.m.. The hotel was completely sold out. The valet parking area was a zoo. They swarm your car and start trying to help you unload to get your car out of the driveway. You CANNOT take your suitcases and belongings up yourself unless you can physically carry everything yourself. Your belongings go with a bellman that delivers it to your room via the service elevator. Standard for upscale hotels but I still don't like losing sight of my belongings. the check in was fast. Elevators are specific to certain floor so pay attention when they tell you what to do. A large portion of the hotel was undergoing construction. Our room was quiet and bed was comfortable for the brief period we were there. Room was long but narrow. Try and get your parking included in your rate as runs as high as $40/night when full. Parking Rate changes when you check out so can't leave car in garage and sight see unless willing to pay top rate. We got blocked in by a parade and almost missed our check out time so don't cut it close returning to room.
Search the Sheraton New Orleans website as I found a amazing special (Papa Noel) of $89 plus $20 parking while my friends paid $159 plus $40 parking for same rooms. The hotel did a great job of refunding an overcharge within 1 week without making me call.

Room Tip: While view from windows facing Canal St. are fun, the noise almost never stops. Ask for a room on th...

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience. We’re happy to hear that you took advantage of our Papa Noel special, and that we were able to correct the billing error for you. You’ll be happy to know that our renovations to our public areas are at an end! We have only 4 more guest room floors to complete in our project. Thank you again for your comments and we hope to welcome you back on your next visit to New Orleans!

“Best hotel ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013 via mobile

Stayed here for a few nights before a cruise. This is the cleanest, most cost efficient hotel. The fitness center is the best that I have ever used in a hotel or in the community. Everything in this hotel was neat , clean and new looking. Within walking distance to all the attractions. Will definitely stay here on my next trip to New Orleans.

“Not that great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

First floor elevators broken/blocked off the first 4 days I was there. Broke drinking fountains. The fridge in my room looks like it was hit with a hammer about 20 times (wish I had a photo). The elevators that did work would crash (funny computerized things) and just say BUSY for long periods of time. No free coffee or anything in the lobby. I'd have much rather stayed in a much cheaper Hampton Inn or Drury Inn. The WiFi would be blazing fast, then drop to unusable for hours. It would be a decent deal for $69-$89 a night, but not for $100 more.

Room Tip: Get a low room so when the elevators are broke which is often, you don't need to run down 21 fli...

Thank you again for your comments.

“Perfect location for walking, but good (?) area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

I stayed here for a week this past summer for a conference that was in the hotel. It was perfect. I actually didn't leave the hotel for the first three days because everything I needed was onsite (plus the long conference days). The lobby was cozy yet active and made for a nice hang out in the evenings. The hotel provided a huge area for the conference so we never felt cramped even with the hundreds of people. The catered food was pretty good - better than the standard rubber chicken, but nothing memorable, either. When I was up in the room, I wouldn't have known how busy the hotel was because it was quiet and little traffic in the hallways. The rooms were the standard business fare, but the view was fabulous. I had a western facing room on a really high floor so had an unhindered view of some really nice sunsets.

When I did leave the hotel, I first stopped by the front desk to ask where the nearest convenience store was, to which I was told just a block and a half up the main street. I asked if it was ok to walk (I'm a youngish female and I was alone - I like to ask!) and he kinda paused and then said I'd be fine if I was back by dark. Soo... not sure if it's all the best area or if he was being overly cautious. I did leave several more times with a larger group and it was all great. We walked to the aquarium once, and then a few times up the other direction to Bourbon Street. Both pretty close. Passed a casino that was close, as well as a Pinkberry.

All in all, pretty good stay.

Room Tip: high on the west side.

We’re glad you enjoyed your stay! Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience. It’s great to hear that you found our lobby cozy and enjoyed the view from your room. Rest assured, the Front Desk Associate you spoke to was being cautious for your wellbeing since we are in a Downtown Metropolitan area and want to keep all of our guests safe! As in any city which you are unfamiliar with, the buddy system is always the best way to travel around town. We appreciate your comments and hope to welcome you back soon!

“Really Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

I have stayed in over five hotels during my few trips to New Orleans and I must say even with construction going on, this was one of the best and most enjoyable hotels. Service was great, room was superior, the gym and pool...amazing. This will be my go to hotel. Don't be swayed by the better ratings found for fancier hotels, they are just not cutting it like the Sheraton.

Room Tip: They will put you in the rooms that are available and quieter due to the construction.
