Considering value for money this hotel is quite disappointing. I was quite surprised by the fact that paying almost 150 USD for a room doesn't get you either breakfast or free wi-fi. Not having free wi-fi was especially annoying since you can get it for free in several coffee houses and restaurants which are only a short walk away from the hotel. I was also disappointed with the cleaning of the rooms, which was far from ideal (and one day did not happen). The door keys failed at least twice, and the lifts were confusing to say the least. The good things about the hotel are the view from your room, providing you are high enough, and the starbucks cafe on the lobby, which solved my need for espresso in the morning. Overall not a bad hotel, quite confy, centrally located and with very friendly staff. Still, with respect to value for money, a rating of 3 is actually quite generous.

We had a Club Room on the 39th floor facing the Mississippi River, the room was nice with two full size beds, a desk and a comfortable upholstered chair in the corner. The bedding was extremely comfortable with high quality linens and down pillows. The best feature was the floor to ceiling window with the great view, the window treatment is an equally sized operable wooden shutter.

The hotel is being renovated on the 9th, 12th & 13th floors so stay on higher floors to miss all of the construction noise. The only benefit for paying the Club Room upgrade is the lounge on the 42nd floor where you can get complimentary coffee, or continental breakfast in the mornings and free drinks or snacks in the evenings; it is worth the additional fee.

The property is a short block and a half walk to the Harrah's casino, which is a great venue. The French Quarter is right across the street, the cable car line is right in front of the hotel but is currently shut down for maintenance and will be running again in time for the Superbowl. Great property with easy access to all that you would want. My biggest complaint is that our room stayed hot and the a/c in the room was no help, Internet service was an additional $15 a day and valet parking was another $38 a day. Too many hidden charges for a room that was over $200 a night. If you stay at Hampton Inn for half the price, parking and Internet is free!

My husband and I stayed here in December for a business trip and had a great time. Upon arrival we were greeted by Brian who was so helpful and cheerful as he arranged for our bags to be taken care of. We were then greeted by Donette at the front desk. She is such a wonderful ambassador for the hotel. We have stayed here several times and she is outstanding. I find the staff friendly and always helpful. The location cannot be beat. You can walk everywhere. The rooms have been renovated and the beds are so comfortable.

Stayed there with my fiancee for 3 nights for a conference and one extra night to site see. Sort of like a business trip and a vacation. I reserved a Club floor room for a discounted rate because the conference held a block of room. I arrived early around 12:00pm and my room wasn't ready because check in is at 3:00 pm but I just kept asking questions nicely, and got a handicap club floor room that was ready and was just fine. It helps if you signed up to be a starwood preferred guest when you booked your room because its free anyway and you get reward points. The hotel was just renovated and when I was there part of the lobby was still being renovated, so there was some noise during the conference but nothing too bad. The new rooms are modern and sleek looking. They have huge floor to ceiling windows with a great view of the Mississippi river or the French Quarter. The club floor has complimentary wifi, breakfast from around 6:30-9:30 am, hors d'oeuvres from 5:30-8:00 pm and coffee, tea, juice, water and snack bars 24 hours. If you get to the club room by 5:30 you can pretty much have a full meal because they have real warm food. The food was fresh and good. The club room floor was really convenient because it saved us money and time stressing about eating. We were then able to eat at least one amazing meal, and sometimes two, a day at really good restaurants near by. The club room has great modern decor, comfortable beds, and a great view of the city and the Mississippi river. Our room had no fridge but that was ok with me. On my last night I called and asked to stay in the same room and pay the extra fee and they let me stay in the club room floor even though I was suppose to switch to a less expensive room for the extra night and they gave me club room accesses without having to pay extra. The staff was friendly and always said hello, from the bell hoop, to the cleaning ladies. The hotel is really close to the French Quarter, street cars, the river, etc, so it is a great spot. Maybe not as charming as some of the french quarter hotels but really good if you are not someone that has to be pampered too much. Excellent if you just need everything to run smoothly and are going to be really busy during your trip to New Orleans site seeing, partying or at a conference.
