This hotel looks worn and used. The room was clean but the furniture is badly marred and the walls could use a fesh coat of paint.
The breakfast buffet is $22 per person. The service in the bar is extremely slow and expensive. My husband appreciates a good single malt but finds that $15 is a bit expensive for a very short pour.
Hat's off to the concierge who answered questions and provided suggestions with a smile.

We booked this through Hot Wire and were very happy with everything about it. We stayed on the 33rd floor which had a great view of Canal St. below. The room was nice and functional and beds comfortable. Elevators were fast with not a lot of stops for such a tall building. The prices at the lobby bar were high. $40 plus for 3 glasses of wine and a screw driver. There was a convenient Starbucks in the lobby for morning coffee.

Can't beat the location of this hotel, right by all the action, but far enough away from the all night noise. The lobby scene is nice. The elevators that I've seen complaints about on here are newly updated, I guess fixing the problem, because we never had to wait more than a few seconds. The room was a bit small and uneventful. But stay here for where it is at, Canal Street!

I actually booked this hotel on Hotwire, and got an excellent rate. for the rate, I was quite happy. Had I been paying a rack rate though, I would have been less so. The hotel has a nice lobby and courteous staff. The room I received had the view of a wall and roof outlets, and a small window. The hotel is in need of its upcoming renovation. My room had older plaster-style walls, older used furniture, and the ceiling was cracked in spots. On the plus side, the bed and linens were extremely comfortable, and the room was a decent size. Very clean. Great location. I was disappointed that while the hotel was undergoing a reno, the fitness centre was delegated to a small room with three cardio machines only - almost impossible to get one considering the hotel has over 1000 rooms! I would stay here again, but wouldn't hesitate trying the Marriott or Crowne Plaza either.
