We stayed here for one night on our trip to south Louisiana.
The bad -
Check-in was a little shaky. We arrived at 2:00 and they said that our room wouldn't be ready until 3:00. They took the keys to our car to valet park and said that when the room was ready they would bring our luggage to the room and give me a call on my cell phone. No big deal since we were right in the French Quarter and there was plenty to go and do. However, I never received a call and when we returned about 4 hours later, I checked the car, all of our luggage was still there. We had a couple of heavy bags and had to haul them up to flights of stairs to our room. The valet was busy at the time and I just wanted to get into the room.
I am 6'4" and hate it when hotels have a short shower head. This one came to the top of my chest. Very annoying, but I only had to shower once so I could put up with it.
The noise level could be a problem with this location, specifically our room. We were in room 222, which faces Chartes St. Any activity on the street could be heard very clearly in our room. Fortunately, this was a fairly quiet time in the French Quarter, so this turned out to not be too big of a deal. We did have ear plugs which helped tremendously.
The Good -
Location - this is a great location for exploring the French Quarter. Good access to most of the must hit places. I highly recommend stopping into Harry's Corner Bar just down the street. Good local hangout to have a couple of drinks.
Room - Although the room was small, it totally met expectations and although there was a risk of noise, we loved the location right on the street. We were able to open the windows and sit on the window sill and watch the activities below us. The bed was comfortable and provided a good nights sleep. The room was clean and well prepared for us.
Staff - other than the initial check-in, the staff was friendly and good to work with.
Extra - We realized when we got home that we had forgotten our iPad in the room. My wife called and talked to someone at the front desk and they said that we had to talk to the cleaning staff. We were concerned that we were getting shuffled and would get a run around, but when she called them, they said that they did in fact have it and would send it back to us. By policy, they will not call a guest, but rely on the guest to call the hotel. We had to pay for shipping, but it arrived at our house vis Fedex 3 days later. I was very pleased with the honesty.
Overall, this was a good hotel for our needs. I would recommend it and would likely stay there again.
