“Four nights in the French Quarter”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

The hotel is in a great location on Chartres Street, well-placed for everything without the need for a car. The staff were friendly and helpful, the bar serves excellent cocktails and the bar staff were entertaining and knowledgeable. Complementary breakfast was ok. The hotel is spread over a wide area behind it's facade with a number of buildings and a central car park. We were in room 410 which presumably is in building 4. The interior of the room was fine but it was located next to a side street with a good number of pedestrians passing the window and it was quite noisy until late in the evening. The room was also quite dark as the ony window, onto the street, was shuttered. We would stay here again but would opt for a room away from the road even if it cost more, we paid 118 plus tax.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the street

Great location in the French Quarter for the price. Right next door to one of the best fine dining resturants in NOLA....Stella's. Lots more good eats places right around the corner on Decatur. Conventient to everything, including Frenchman's late night. My husband complained because there was no balcony, but the cost would have gone up tremendously. So, no balcony, but small courtyard. Our room was well decorated in antiques and nostalgic furnishings to include wrought iron, brass, crown molding, and chair rails. Very charming. Our queen bed and beddings were very comfy/casual. NIce carpet The bathroom was modern chic and very clean. The elevators in my building were slow and small. The staff was helpful with info and considerate. Not pet friendly.

The hotel is close to Jackson Square, but in a quiet part of the Quarter. The hotel itself is charming with fountains and a pool. We had a view of the Mississippi and it was lovely. There is a is a small bar on the property and they serve complimentary continental breakfasts in AM. The staff were very friendly and polite. We stayed in building 5 which was a hospital years ago. The bathroom was remodeled and lovely. The room was very comfortable for two people. I would absolutely stay here again. It was close to everything and quiet!

Room Tip: I would book a room in Building 5 and ask for a view.

We booked a room for 110 + taxes, which is a fabulous price for the location. The hotel is close to Jackson Square, but in a quiet part of the Quarter. The courtyard and pool are lovely and there is a bar on property where they serve complimentary continental breakfasts in AM. The staff were very friendly and polite. Our room was on the pool and it was very quiet. The bedroom was ok; adequate but nothing fancy. The bathroom, however, was very much in need of remodeling. The tub was plastic and I could hear water "squishing" under the tub when I stepped in. If they will modernize the bath, we will stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the pool or courtyard.

This was horribly over priced. We have traveled alot. We have stayed in boutique hotels to lavish chains all over the world but this stay was the worst. We booked a suite paying $400 a night. We had horrible service, bugs in the 1960 bathroom, dark and musty room with little or no light. We had no help from the front desk because we could not contact the front desk no phone. Almost missed our cab going to airport because of it. We had to drag our bags down two flights of stairs no elevator. Everything needed updating except beautiful drapes and two new televisions. The court yards in the other buildings were charming but our courtyard not so much. Would not stay here ever again.

My friend and I visited NOLA for the first time in late March for 3 nights and chose this hotel because of the location (right in FQ, walking distance to everything), reasonable price and great reviews. You seriously can not beat the location. The hotel itself is charming with fountains, courtyards and two pools, and the staff was really friendly and let us check our bags the first and last day of our trip. There's also a free continental breakfast each morning, which was convenient. Also, I've seen mixed reviews on here - but we never experienced hearing street noise late at night, this may be due to the fact that we slept in the furthest building of the hotel, though.

Reading through the reviews, we had heard that the hotel is rumored to be haunted, so being the chickens that we are, we had specifically requested NOT to be in building 5 (the old hospital). Of course, we were placed in building 5, which was at the furthest end of a parking lot. After contemplating for a good 10 minutes whether to book it to the nearest Marriott, we decided to stay. Our room itself was clean and quaint and the bathroom was fully renovated which was a plus (great water pressure too). While we never encountered any ghosts during our visit, we did experience our beds swaying multiple times, which spooked us out enough that we wouldn't stay in building 5 again! But take that with a grain of salt since we were already spooked just by rumors.

Overall - amazing trip, great hotel - ghosts or not, it is 100% worth it.

Room Tip: If you're not into ghost hype - avoid building 5 like the plague! Definitely got an unsettling v...

A friend and I just spent 3 nights at this lovely hotel in a French Quarter historic building. Located within easy walking distance of all French Quarter attractions and sites, we had a large room (former condo) with sitting area, two beds, bar, large bathroom, louvered French doors and a private courtyard with tables and fountain. Hotel has a larger courtyard, swimming pool, and a smaller secluded pool. All are landscaped with plants and flowers providing a quiet, pleasant place to relax with your coffee, paper, or snack. Small complimentary breakfast was adequate to start the day (save your calories for all the good restaurants in the F.Q.!).

Room Tip: Booked through getaroom.com. Others in our party booked directly w/hotel...their rooms weren't a...
