“Charming, lots of character, great location, helpful staff, BUT…”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

We had two rooms, and in both cases, the air vents needed cleaning and the bathrooms needed updating. Yes, they were fairly clean but tiles were cracked, one of the sinks was cracked, and the floors were poorly done. Tips: 1) keep the fans on all of the time so the room doesn’t smell mildewy, and 2) check the travel websites to see if you can get in the Hotel Monteleone at a favorable rate—it has a world of character and is many times better. Would we come back? No, but if we had to come back, we would be quite happy. It’s a decent hotel.

Excellent location in French Quarter, friendly & helpful staff. It's within walking distance to everywhere since it's smack in the Quarter. Room is a bit dated but clean. Note that there's no coffee maker or small fridge in the room. Free breakfast.

Room Tip: Ask for room facing the courtyard to avoid noise along Chartres in the middle of the night or wee ho...

We have been staying at the Provincial for many years on our trips to New Orleans once or twice a year. We were there two weeks ago during Mardi Gras.
As usual, the staff were extremely cordial and helpful, and our room was very nice. The location of the hotel could not be better, within easy walks to anywhere in the French Quarter.
When you stay at the charming Provincial, you know you are in New Orleans!

Room Tip: Quieter rooms are away from pool in the summer.

Me and my family stay in New Orleans quite often. We have stayed at a few different places but this hotel is by far our favorite. I love that it is so close to everything in the french quarter but it sets back away from the street and it is peaceful and quiet. The front desk staff is always so helpful and polite. I feel very safe when I stay here...even with the ghost we have seen!!

Room Tip: Rooms towards the back and side are quieter than the rooms closer to the road. Also if you are into...

The room was clean, staff was nice, and it was convenient to everything in the quarter around the Jackson Square area. Our room was 320 and right on the street. If you don't mind being awake all night, it's great. If you like your sleep, ask for another room.
Overall a good stay, but not sure we would choose again with all the other options available.

Room Tip: Room 320 is noisy at night-but to the credit it has a great balcony!

We stayed here for Mardi Gras for 5 nights. Loved the courtyards, rooms was very clean, bathroom was very small. The hot water fluctuated during showers, was kind of annoying. Walls are extremely thin, we could here everything going on in the room next to us and outside. It was adequate considering it was Mardi Gras but don't think it was worth 300.00 a night. The staff was awesome and we loved the bartender!!!!

Hotel Provincial is right in the heart of the French Quarter just 2 short blocks from both Bourbon Street and Decatur, but miles away in terms of noise. I loved that they had both parking and a continental breakfast, and the staff was always helpful if I needed advice or directions.

My room was small, but nice. The view was nothing to right home about (it faced the parking lot), but I am so happy with my decision to stay at the Hotel Provincial.

My only complaint was the adjoining room had their TV turned waaay up all the time and I could hear everything. Otherwise, very nice.
