1st time at this property and wife and I were both pleased. The best feature about the hotel is the location: within 100 ft of good restaurants such as Antoines, NOLA, and K-Pauls plus right on Royal with so many antique shops. We spent the afternoons by the pool doing our work; frequent dips in the large pool served as a great retreat from the summer humidity. We were fortunate to receive a large corner room with very nice furniture and wall/window treatments and an extra large bathroom. Hundreds of high schoolers staying at the property were at first a concern but they proved to be the best behaved kids (church related and kept on a tight lease by their chaparones). We will be back.

My husband and I just returned from the Royal Orleans for a 4 day trip with another couple. We checked in at 7 a.m. without any difficulty. They said they like to have every room ready so you may check-in at anytime (if rooms available). Great location! The Observation deck was amazing if you want to view NewOrleans French Quarter. Luxurious patio and pool deck with a bar right there. The rooms were very clean, and well stocked with anything you could need. Easy walk to the Quarter and the Waterfront. Everyone eager to assist you in any way. Only downsides were the taxes on the bill at the end and no wi-fi in rooms unless you pay a fee (free wi-fi in lobby). Parking, Occupancy, Room taxes. Crazy! Overall, a wonderfull stay. Can't wait to get back there!

“Weak service and no hot water”

My wife and I decided on a long weekend getaway to New Orleans from Dallas and made last minute reservations at the Omni primarily due to the great location in the French Quarter.

The staff was pleasant but did not go out of their way. Concierge was helpful in booking a tour. The desk staff asked if they could do anything for me when I complained about the hot water. I don't think I should have to barter for compensation on something like this. Another guest agreed with me as I pointed out the lack of hot water.

Our main complaint was no hot water in the morning and the very small room size. The TV was located at a strange angle and made viewing difficult. Our balcony room had a great view.

Please know that your experience is not the norm, as noted on the many positive reviews guests have listed on this site. Unfortunately, during your time with us, we experienced an emergency situation which required our hot water be shut down. This was an unforeseen event and we corrected the situation as quickly as possible. We regret that it impacted your getaway to New Orleans. We are scheduled for a full room renovation in the Fall / Winter of 2009 - 2010 and will combine 30 of our smallest European Queen bedrooms into 15 larger, luxury rooms. We hope you would consider staying with us again to see the new rooms and allowing us the opportunity to regain your trust.

We were travelling with 2 small dogs. The Omni Royal Orleans was very accomodating. They even have a door hanger that alerts the staff that there are pets in the room. The location couldn't be more convenient, right in the french quartre. This is a beautiful hotel! The only thing that we weren't notified of was the $30 daily parking charge. This should have been mentioned when we got there. Other than that, it was an excellent experience.

Great location in the French Quarter; everything is in walking distance (literally)...Bourbon, French Market, Frenchman Street, Jackson Square etc, etc..and super close to the street car which we took for a personal tour of the Garden District..
Joined membership prior to arriving and received cool little perks (i.e. paper & juice in the morning and express check in/out).
Was able to soak up the sun at the roof-top pool since not all hotels in the area feature one...Poolside bar that served yummy sandwiches and great drinks didn't hurt either.
Staff was friendly, helpful & patient. All around - I RECOMMEND!!!=)
