“The most amazing night”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

This was the most beautifully restored mansion. It was set up similar to a bed and breakfast. We had the most amazing time. It was in walking distance to a lot of nice restaurants and pubs. The rickshaws were so much fun! They pretty much drove us everywhere we needed to go. The staff was overly helpful at finding me a restaurant for my dietary restrictions. We took advantage of the over-sized jacuzzi tub in our room & a nice bottle of campaign. We also really enjoyed sitting outside in the morning drinking coffee in the courtyard. Super beautiful & relaxing. Wish I would have had time to take advantage of the in-house hair salon.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a private out door area.

“Best weekend ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012 via mobile

The mansion is great. Me and my fiancée booked the Denecio suite for the weekend. The location is great. There are plenty if things to do all within walking distance. Royal st and Decatur is full of shops, neat bars, and restaurants. Taxi's are cheap if you get tired of walking.

The mansion is beautiful. My fiancée was really impressed with the mansion, and especially our room.

The real jewel here is the staff. I've stayed at plenty of hotels, but the staff here is top notch. This trip was me and my fiancées romantic getaway. They made me look like a super star. Melony and Brian were the two we spoke with the most. I must have talked to Melony at least 10x on the phone before we even made it to the mansion. She was very knowledgable and made great suggestions for things for us to do. She also took care of our reservations. Brian was also great. I requested rose pedals and candles to be put out by our jacuzzi tub while we were out to dinner. He had everything set up and gave me his number so I could text right before we got back so he could light the candles. My fiancée was so surprised. Also, I'm a beer drinker and they brought me a nice ice downed 12pack.

Overall, our stay was amazing and we will definitely be back. I highly recommend the melrose mansion, you won't be disappointed!

“Great place to chill out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

We stayed 4 nights at this impressive restored mansion, which is more like a B&B than a hotel and is in a tranquil location only 10 minutes walk to the heart of the French Quarter. It doesn't take much longer to the central city area via the Riverside Trolley from French Market. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and make guests feel right at home. The rooms are big and well appointed but ours was rather lacking in natural light and with the hardwood floors and thin walls was prone to noise from the neighbours. The air-con and ceiling fans are powerful and can be quite noisy too. The outdoor pool and sun deck is a great place to relax in hot, sticky weather. We thought there are a few areas for improvement though. Firstly, there was no information provided in the room - one had to ask about everything. Secondly we had an espresso machine but coffee pods were only supplied on the first day. Finally, although the breakfast items were clearly high quality, the choice was rather limited.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with windows (many with stained glass) that give natural light. Also, ground floo...

“Splendid on the Esplanade!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2012

We recently visited this gorgeous B&B right on the outskirts of the French Quarter. Everything that was promised was delivered, a breathtaking room, immaculate surroundings, perfect location and helpful staff.
We arrived early in New Orleans but the hotel took our bags and we were out for the day sightseeing. The legendary Burbon Street was in walking distance and the wine and cheese set up was a nice treat to come back to. The pool was refreshing and I think a necessity while visiting NOLA.
If you can, definitely upgrade to the Doneca Suite, I promise you won't be disappointed. I could have spent my whole holiday in bliss lounging on the private balcony that looks down upon the Esplanade. The rooms were tastefully decorated with modern furnishings, while still capturing the essence of the old south. Ask the staff about the history of the building, extremely entertaining.
Be sure to walk down a couple of blocks and have the best burgers in town, PortOCall, and listen to the amazing Jazz on Frenchman Street. If you have time, rent a car and take an airboat trip to visit the alligators, a highlight of our trip.
I can't say enough good things about Nola, but more especially, Melrose Mansion. I can't wait to go back!
