“very adequate, great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2014

Our room was small, but clean and adequate. You are not in your room much in New Orleans anyway. The location is perfect, right on the edge of the french quarter. The price was reasonable and the staff was friendly and helpful. The elevator complex is remarkable, no waiting and fast.

I stayed at the New Orleans Marriott for 5 nights during a convention at the New Orleans Convention Center. My room was nice, I was given a corner room and enjoyed seeing the city out of the hotel. Beds were comfy and I had no noise issues from neighbors at all. My internet connection worked fast, although you had to pay separate for it, it isn't complimentary. The lobby area can be very busy with a lot of energy, there is a nice bar/lounge/sitting area and we met people there a couple of times for a beverage. There's also a Starbucks on site that we utilized. The front desk was very helpful, we had one billing issue that was our fault and the man at the front desk patiently walked us through the details and was able to get the room switched to another credit card.
The location to the French Quarter was great, you're just a few blocks away. The distance to the convention center was closer to a mile. I typically like to walk to conventions but one day it so muggy I ended up flagging down a cab so I didn't arrive all sweaty. You're in walking distance of a lot of nice restaurants, and fast food places also if you prefer.

I would stay again. It was a little further from the convention center than I wanted, but we ended up entertaining or being around the French Quarter every evening so I was able to walk back each night while others often grabbed a cab. One odd thing, all packages run through FedEx on the property. There is a charge to retrieve a package and the FedEx has definite hours. We missed one package because I was at the trade show and meetings during the hours FedEx was open and it ended getting shipped back to our office. We try to avoid last minute shipments for a show but it happens sometime and in hindsight I would have shipped to someone else's hotel had I known this policy.

Room Tip: Book well in advance if you're attending a show. This is a popular hotel for business and pleasu...

The Marriott on Canal Street is a great location for exploring the French Quarter. The hotel however has no local flavor or charm. A huge hotel with basic rooms. Our room was on the fifth pool overlooking the pool area. Nice view but you do have people walking by your room and looking in through the window. The room was actually a nice size but the bathroom so small only one person could enter at a time. The ceiling was so low that even at 5 foot 2, I felt claustrophobic. The beds were comfortable, furniture nice and except for mold in the grout of the bath/shower combination clean. There is also a coffee maker in the room as well as a Starbucks in the lobby. Staff we encountered were nice and helpful. If you get a good deal on rooms this is a convenient and acceptable for a quick trip.

Room Tip: For a better view, go high.

Staff here is among the most cheerful, outgoing and friendliest folks I've ever encountered at a hotel, with a special shout-out to the boisterous bellhops who stored our bags and helped us with a cab. The concierge and the front desk folks were also efficient and helpful. Everyone made our very brief stay (for a vendor's meeting) as easy and pleasant as it could be. The hotel's location is ideal. We had time for only a couple short strolls - to Cafe du Monde for beignets and to Bourbon Street for dinner -- but because we were already in the heart of things, I felt like we saw a lot (and I'm eager to get back for a longer visit). The hotel is a little dated, the rooms a little on the small side and the hot water in the shower is a little less than ideal. Still, a very nice stay.

Located just on the edge of the French Quarter, it is a great location to see all the sights in the city of New Orleans. It is a big hotel but the service is attentive and friendly. Rooms are in good repair and well kept - standard Marriott decor. Has excellent facilities and is the center of many events.

The New Orleans Marriott is in the perfect location for your business or family trip; right on the edge of the French Quarter and a couple of blocks from the river. This lets you walk to everything you want to see and do, without dealing with noise or crowds. The rooms are a bit dated (we heard that the guest rooms are scheduled for renovation), but the hotel is very comfortable and the staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. Nice pool and 24 hour fitness center, and the 'great room' style lobby is a nice atmosphere for work conferences!

The location of this hotel was excellent. It was within easy walking distance of the French quarter, as well as countless restaurants and bars.

The staff was extremely helpful and friendly throughout the stay.

My main complaint was that the rooms themselves seemed somewhat dated, run down and a bit musty. Because if this, I would probably look for another option if I return to New Orleans.
