With so much character, culture and style in New Orleans, the only thing this Marriott delivers is location (that is if Bourbon Street and Canal is all you are looking for). The water pressure is weak, the views are nice, but all in all you could be in any city USA when standing in the lobby of this typical old Marriott. Not a bad hotel, just not a great one either.

Dear smkluck, you're absolutely right about our location; there's so much great food and entertainment within steps of our front door. We're sorry to hear your stay didn't wow you, however. We're always looking for ways to improve, and maybe after a few of our planned updates, you'll have a different impression. Thanks for your review. We hope to see you again soon.

Sincerely,

Kori Johnson

We ended up here by using Priceline (the rate was a steal, and made the parking charge more palatable). It was a very nice experience overall, the service was terrific and very friendly. The room was a pretty standard room, clean and comfortable and in good condition. My only real complaint about the room is the lack of electrical outlets; there weren't enough and they were hard to find. Also, television signal was very poor. No wifi in the room, but for the price I paid I won't quibble, and it is available in the lobby. We had a decent view, and the location was very convenient, although we could hear more city noise in the room than I would have expected. Overall I was pleased to have stayed here.

My fiance and i stayed for 4 nights in mid December 2012. The hotel was in a good location on Canal, and was only a 2 minute walk up to Bourbon St.

The lobby of this hotel is very impressive and welcoming. The rooms however are very old and need updating, the bathroom was also really old and the layout was very awkward. Having the starbuck in the lobby area was great, so we had our morning coffee their each day and utilised the lobby bar area to catch an NFL game which was handy. I did feel as though if i were to go back to New Orleans then I would stay at one of the smaller boutique style hotels to get more of a feel for the area.

I certainly didn't feel that this hotel was up to a normal Marriot standard which was dissappointing considering the extra money we spent thinking we would have loved it but unfortunatley the rooms really let this hotel down for us.

Room Tip: Stay at the Monteleone hotel or the Crowne Plaza!

Stayed here from Fri, 2/15-Sun 2/17. Got a great deal on Priceline (good since parking is $35 a night). Bellman and lobby personnel were very friendly and welcoming. This hotel is in a great location and I love the Starbucks and bar area in hotel. I was a bit disappointed that they did not have any king rooms when we arrived. They did upgrade us to a river view on the 23rd floor to make up for it. We stayed in room 2312 and it was clean. Bathrooms are small but was expected since this was our 2nd trip here. Only issues were that there was no facial tissue on the 1st day and it was not replaced after the 2nd either. No biggee as I got some from the cleaning lady as she passed by. Could not check out on the TV either for some reason. We would definitely stay here again though.

Stayed here for Mardi Gras. As others have stated, the location is wonderful. Staff complained about not getting good tips for Super Bowl. Room was substandard. Bathroom door was busted and dirty and had mold on the bottom and kind of dirty. Looked like something from a defunct housing project. Stayed here two years ago and bathroom toilet flooded our room. Not really up to Marriott standards. Stay at JW Marriott across the street.

Room Tip: Ask to see the room before you check in.

This hotel is not the fanciest and not too shabby at the same time. It's just right. The bed is amazingly comfortable, but the decor is outdated. The bathroom is cramped. If I were any taller than an average height (5'5"), I would have been uncomfortable in the shower. The lobby is lovely, and everything else is just okay. The New Orleans Marriot is just alright, the perfect Goldilocks Hotel.
