“Great hotel in a good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014

We had two rooms (One suite and one 2 bed room) when we stayed here and both were fantastic. The staff was always friendly and knew the best spots to visit. The hotel was always clean and respected the "do not disturb" signs when posted. I would absolutely recommend this hotel and will be staying here next time I visit New Orleans.

My friends and I stayed in two of the Lamothe rooms. The first one was absolutely majestic; it featured high ceilings, a fine European chandelier, a huge and comfortable king bed, a pull out sofa bed and best of all... tons of space to party! The second room was exactly what we wanted after hours of exploring the city, it had two amazingly comfortable beds, a nice tv to help us fall asleep, a patio and a clean refreshing bathroom.
This place also has a nice pool and the decor inside and outside is unique and a perfect introduction to whats expected around the city.
Above all, the location was superb. We did not need any transportation to anywhere. Walking to Bourbon street was quick, easy, and fun. Frenchmen street was a nice surprise and around the corner from our room. Frenchmen street had awesome live music, late night bars and restaurants and tons of people hanging out.
I plan to take my wife to New Orleans soon and we'll definitely be staying in the Lamothe House.

Room Tip: We stayed across the street from the main house. It was great! We loved opening the door and being r...

Our room was a nice surprise- it was a two bedroom with a sitting area. Having a seperate bedroom- with a door- was wonderful. But, we were on the third floor- and there were no elevators. Carrying heavy suitcases up and down the stairs was not fun. Or even just coming back from a busy, exhausting day- and having to face all those stairs, wasn't ideal for any of us.

As our room was in the main house and faced the street, it was very loud in the morning. We heard each and every car, truck, policemen and firemen racing down the street, and as a result, never got to sleep in.

Unfortunately, the beautiful pool they show on their website was a murky green and out of order. We saw someone working on it when we checked it, and were hopeful that it would be ready the following day. But it remained closed for the duration of our 4 night stay.

Additionally, the air conditioning in our room stopped working on our last day/night. We informed the front desk at 2pm, with plenty of time for them to send someone over to repair it. The front desk merely gave us a fan and called it a night. As it was so hot and muggy, we had to go back to the front desk to ask for another fan. He assured me that he'd go find another one asap and bring it right up. He must have gotten lost somewhere along the way, because he never saw him again.

Overall, we wouldn't stay here again. Aside from the problems we had with the room specifically and the hotel in general, it is a little out of walking distance from the Quarter, especially in the crushing heat of summer.

There are lots of options in New Orleans and I would pick somewhere else. This place is not clean or well kept. I wish we would have stayed somewhere else. There are separate rooms from the main building which do not seem secure at all. I am suprised we didn't get stuff taken. Go elsewhere!

Charles, we are most disappointed to read of your opinion about your stay with us. Although we have never had any issues with theft or safety on or near our properties, we have over 20 security cameras and are staffed 24 hours a day to be sure we are presenting the safest accommodation possible in the city. We would have loved to have been able to speak with you directly regarding your concerns while you were staying with us, however none of our staff had any recollection of speaking with a guest in June with concerns similar to yours. We were also unable to locate any reservations staying in June under the name of Charles or any guest residing in Savannah, Georgia (as noted in your TripAdvisor profile) so we were unable to reach out to you directly. That being said, we would like to speak with you directly to address your concerns to ensure we can avoid them in the future with any other guests. We hope to hear back from you at your nearest convenience.

This hotel has been recently updated. The location is good if you like live music. Since the building is old and some say haunted, it has that old time New Orleans feel. I have stayed there many times and will stay again. It is priced appropriately. If it goes up, I would look elsewhere.

Charming, but lacking the advantages of a full service hotel. Our room was in a separate, freestanding building and not the secured main building. Our room, while a king sized, was small for two people, and the bathroom very small. On the positive side, the furniture was nice, and the bed was very comfortable with nice linens. Parking was an extra $20/ night and advertised as secured; however, the gate was not functioning during our three night stay. We were able to come and go in the lot as often as we wanted, but be aware it can get very tight. The pool and hot tub would have been very welcoming except for the disgusting green color of the water. I wouldn't even consider going in. No micro or Refrig in the room. Rene was a very gracious host. Overall, an interesting stay, but would not go back.

I had an amazing stay at Lamothe House Hotel over the July 4, 2014 weekend for many reasons but before I go on and on about the features of the hotel let me just say that the highlight of my stay at this hotel truly was Christopher (Chris), the Front Desk Concierge! Chris truly loves his job and it shows! He was beyond accommodating and helpful to my group of (4) NOLA newbies and enthusiastically answered all of our rapid fired questions, booked our walking tour for us and our Steamboat cruise even to the point of a reserved table. Not to mention, he called ahead for our cabs and directed our confused, excited minds with directions around the French Quarter, telling us where to go for EVERYTHING! Chris is a treasure! He even carried our heavy bags up a flight of stairs to our room (no elevators) when we arrived and back down again when we departed! He was pure awesome sauce! All this he would do while efficiently humming through his regular duties, not skipping a beat. Although all of the Front Desk Concierge were kind and helpful, I really feel like Chris went above and beyond for my group in a way I’ve never experienced before. One thing my family and I repeatedly said was: “There are a lot of beautiful hotels in the French Quarter that we could have stayed in but what they lacked was Chris!”

Besides wonderful customer service, this quaint Hotel is conveniently located on Esplanade Street across the street from the whole of the French Quarter with all its lovely streets, restaurants, café, shops and bars/clubs and you’ve got a winner. The Lamothe House Hotel has a classic NOLA flair throughout with antique furniture, paintings and architecture (circa 1890’s). And don’t let me forget the lovely courtyard in back with a garden/fountain area, leading up to a warm water pool/Jacuzzi with seating areas. Top it all off, right in back of this hotel is the famed Frenchman Street with its open air restaurants, bars and live bands of all types and what more can you asks for!?! There's no doubt that I'll be staying here again on my next visit to this great city. In a nutshell, I highly recommend staying at Lamothe House Hotel for anyone else that appreciates great customer service, a smaller antique furnished hotel and a convenient location to everything French Quarter that won't impose on your relaxation time. When you get there, please give Chris my regards.
