My girlfriend and I spent a full week in New Orleans and booked into Maison Dupuy after sorting through reviews on Tripadvisor and Booking.com. We were really satisfied with our choice. It is in the French Quarter, a short walk to almost anywhere you would want to get to. While walking around the French Quarter and beyond, we saw a number of the other hotels we had considered but we agreed that MD was the right choice.
When we arrived, we were put into a street facing room but the room was strangely shaped and the balcony - shared with another room (although we didn't meet anyone else on it). The view of the street was uninspiring and we asked if we could move. The first man that we spoke to was really non-committal and unhelpful (even though we later found out that he had it in his power to help us book in the move but decided not to). The day after, Dana sorted us out so from night 3 onward we were in a much better room with a balcony of its own overlooking the courtyard area.
The hotel has a nice entrance and reception area, a concierge service, great bell staff, a relaxing bar restaurant that has a different guitarist playing for a few hours each night. At weekends they open up a bar in the courtyard. The pool is actually slightly bigger than you might think from the photos, but it is for cooling off rather than exercise! Sometimes all the loungers are taken up, but we never had trouble finding a couple of spare sun chairs. Its nice to have the pool and courtyard there, as a full week in NOLA requires some dedicated down-time.
The rooms are clean, well decorated with plenty of storage space and a small safe. There is a HUGE TV set with lots of channels and pay per view available. No fridges or mini-bars, but there is an ice machine on each floor and the bar staff seemed happy enough to lend me glasses for drinks on the balcony.
I would mark this down to four-stars due to the poor experience with one of the front desk staff, but honestly, its a great hotel, so I'm giving it five-stars to encourage you to book it over its close competitors. I don't think you will be disappointed.
We much preferred staying in a courtyard facing room with a balcony. We were initially given a stree...

Our balcony’s and courtyard are a spectacular addition to what makes our hotel so special. Thank you for the detailed review.
