We had 3 nights in this hotel on a room only basis. About 100 yards away is a great coffee shop called The Vacherie so don't bother paying for over priced hotel breakfasts if you stay here! It's close enough to Bourbon St to visit it (once is enough, it's pretty tacky now, looks like a venue for hen and stag parties) but also if you go past Bourbon to Royal Street, this is much better; its nearer the river and the restaurants/bars are a bit quieter (poss we are not the Bourbon St demographic being more in the middle age bracket!). It's also near the point where you can pick up the hop on/off bus hence to get a decent seat for optimum viewing.
Of course they charge a lot to house your car overnight which bumps up the price and the room sizes are smaller than your average USA hotel (in my opinion) but clean and comfortable enough. Concierge very helpful and she has the most lovely voice ......
If the weather is nice there is a lovely courtyard and swimming pool.
I still think it's a good choice of hotel as some of the larger chains are either right on Bourbon St (Sheraton) or in the city centre (Hilton) and really you can walk anywhere from the Maison so I would recommend it despite the room sizes but I think we were lucky overlooking the back of the hotel - we may have not had a good view but at least it was quiet
