Stayed here the last three nights of Oct., the third night being unexpected due to flight cancellation. We were able to keep the special rate we had and extend our reservation with no problems. Not too far of a walk to the French Quarter. Pretty exterior and interior, but definitely aging. Nice staff. Cute Halloween decorations. The fake flowers in the lobby could do with an update or just complete removal. The bar looked nice, but did not use it. Loved the nighttime PB&J, cocoa and/or milk! Stayed in room 528. The elevators are slow and noisy, so I was glad to be at the end of a hallway. The room could have been quiet, but the noisy air/heating unit, thin walls and loudly closing doors prohibited this. Not a good view out windows. Room needs updating. The drape pull barely worked and I had to struggle each night to get them closed all the way. Beds were comfortable, especially after coming directly from staying at the more swanky Roosevelt. Terrible beds there! Bathroom had some moldy caulking. Had an issue one day with no hot water, but was very quickly fixed once reported. Housekeeping was iffy. Promptly brought us extra pillows after check in that were requested with reservation...not knowing they already had four per bed! We had plenty. However towels that were left on the floor of the shower to be changed out were removed but not replaced until the following day. The one day we skipped Café Du Monde and opted for a room service breakfast it average and expensive. Someone was smoking either on our floor near the elevators or above or below, which we reported, but still occurred the following day. Free Wifi! YAY! Boo to horrible/ fluctuating signal in room. Had to go down to lobby to accomplish anything significant. We fought with our TV remote repeatedly to turn the TV on and control volume. Nice, yet smallish, meeting rooms. There is supposedly a ghost on the 5th floor. Lots of orbs in people's pictures who were there at the same time we were. I have stayed at several hotels around this area and I would stay here again.
