“Wonderful hotel - even BETTER price!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2014

We were so lucky to have locked into good rates here. The staff was friendly, the rooms were beautiful, the location was IDEAL. My only complaint was that we stayed in the "Rockstar" room that didn't have any windows. This concerned me, because there didn't seem to be a fire exit or emergency plan. That made me a little nervous.

Friendly staff, spotless room, extremely comfortable bedding, nice bar! We were very impressed with every aspect of this hotel. Location was great! Valet parking was a little slow but that just gave us time to plan our day. We will be back! :)

I booked the hotel online and was surprised that it lived up to its photos and description. It is located not even a half block away from Canal Street which borders the French Quarter. The ride from the airport took only about 30 minutes; a tip- if there are only 1-2 people, it pays to take the taxi as it has a flat rate of $33.00; the airport van is $20 per person. The lobby is nicely decorated and there is a cute bar that opens at 4:00 p.m. There is coffee, tea and cold lemon infused water 24/7; in the morning there are apples, bananas and granola bars. Here is another tip- if you want to sleep late with no light in the room, ask for a Rock Star Room. The hotel was very clean and the staff was helpful and friendly. The price to park was $35 for valet in and out per day; this is actually average for New Orleans.

Room Tip: To sleep late, ask for Rock Star Room- there are no windows.

i understand that hotels overbook they do that just incase there is a cancelation they are still full and when there isnt a cancelation they have other places to move their guest too. well let me just say that when you pay for one hotel and you get moved to another that is not what you expected it is no fun. we paid to stay at the international house on saturday night they overbooked and moved us to the loft hotel. that place is a dump they say it is new york loft style trendy soho. it looked awful the bed was on the ground. the end tables were about 4 inches off the floor there was no carpet concrete floors. now it was a big room i will give them that but it is not what we paid for. the night auditor guy at the international house was amazing tho i dont remember his name but wow did he take care of us. he got us moved over to the hotel montelaion and it was beautiful. The international house i would have loved to stay there when you walk in it smells amazing but dont stay at their sister property.

I'd recommend this stay. The location is great. The hotel lobby is quite nice and has good character. The room was what we wanted for a weekend away. The service was good. So all in all worth staying for the price! The only knock is the parking service. I read the reviews before we booked and I agree. We waited an hour for our car despite giving them the 30 minutes they ask for and calling down just after 8am to avoid the rush at 11 or 12. The price is fine though - it's $35 for valet but you're going to pay around that ball park anywhere. I'd recommend if you stay to call an hour in advance and I'd recommend to the hotel to ask for an hour wait time if the reviews consistently note excessive wait for your car. And also it goes a long way for quality of service to apologize rather than suggest 'be patient' when someone has been quietly waiting for 50 minutes and asks if the car is still coming. But overall I'd stay here again and recommend it for the price and location (but call an hour before you want your car).

We stayed in the Apple Room (equipped with Apple TV) which was a nice addition to the room. Our room had a very contemporary feel while still holding onto some of the old southern charm that is unique to the French Quarter, black carpeting with white accents throughout the room, high ceilings with moulding throughout. The staff keeps candles lit that make the entire place smell wonderful (which is refreshing after walking through the streets of the French Quarter). The hotel has a bar that is so fabulous that the locals drop in. We loved that it was quiet and centrally located. We let them park our car ( well worth the money) and we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. The entire staff were great to us. We especially loved Leonard, who warmly greeted us at the door upon arrival. He helped us get our bearings and he didn't rush us - which we truly appreciated. We looked forward to interacting with him as we came and went. He called us by name each time. We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: We loved the Apple Room.

I came to New Orleans during French Quarter Festival for a wedding. I knew getting a hotel right downtown I would be looking at $250-$400 a night for that weekend. I also knew that since it is an old city, some of the older hotels tend to have very small rooms. I spent a lot of time reading reviews on the sites about the issues. The lobby was beautiful, as well as the bar. The room was terribly small, and I requested a street view, or just a room with any view. Our room faced a corridor outside of other windows. Good thing there were blinds. The bartender downstairs refused to make a drink for us, a mint julep, at 10:30 on a friday night because it was too much work, then basically mashed some mint into a cup with bourbon and charged us $20. It was awful, til about the end of the drink, then it became the best drink. My husband and I travel to one or two major cities a month for business and we stay at a lot of hotels and love to enjoy our time in each city. After the bell hop and door man allowed my husband to load 4 bags, a cooler and a case into our car in the middle to a downpour as they watched, the small amount of 'this place is cute' had faded and definitely soured only my 2nd visit to New Orleans. If you are going to splurge to stay downtown, stay elsewhere.
