“New Orleans in style!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

We just returned from a 5-day trip to Nola and we stayed at this very stylish boutique hotel, well situated atwalking distance from the French Quarter and other major tourist sites.
We had the terrace King room on the penthouse level and we couldn't ask for a better room. It is actually more a suite than a regular room, having a separate livingroom and a powder room. The immense corner terrace is a definite plus, specially during the warmer months, and gives you nice views of the Central Business District. The decor is minimalist and monochromatic but warm at the same time. The bed is very comfortable with a variety of pillows. The bathroom is huge with a large shower and cool bath tub and well equipped with Aveda amenities but lacks counter space which is a little annoying considering the size of the room. Hotel designers should consider client comfort before looks and trends!
Very limited room service, if any, as there is no restaurant in the hotel. More so, the phones were out of service because of major phone system restructuring that was not mentioned at check-in.
Front desk staff was, in general, very nice, accomodating and informative. Housekeeping needs to work on the schedule for room cleaning. On 2 consecutive days, room was not done by 2pm and we had to request room cleaning. The maintenance team also should also pay more attention to the upkeeping of the place as you have a feeling that it is a little run down.
The trendy Loa bar is very cool and the drink menu lists original and unusual "potations'' that are mixed with professional care by a very knowlegeable bartender.
I would definitely visit again this hotel and request the same room!

I'm sure this was a good hotel before but now its a little run down, maintenance is at a minimum and just more than a little disappointing! Only Andre and Jonathan at the front desk are nice, the rest are rather snooty and not friendly at all, not for front line thats for sure.

We ran out of shampoo, conditioner, toilet tissue after being given only one set for 3 days (and we were 2!) and had to go request for more but had to go down to the front desk because all their phones in the rooms are out of order!

One of their elevators has been out of order for 2 days now (there are only 2), the radio was not in working condition we had to request to replace it.

It must have been a good hotel some years back, definitely a 3.5 star at best now. Too bad because it would be a good hotel if management did not scrimp on maintenance.

We are thrilled that Jonathan and Andre too such good care of you during your stay at IH and we apologize for oen of our two elevators being down during your visit. We always try to pick a slow time as to not inconvenience our guests. We appreciate your comments and will research the issues at hand and see that they are all tended to.

We stayed in a corner king room from December 21-24, 2012 and loved the room and the hotel. The hotel is located in the CBD (Central Business District), ideally located close to the French Quarter and Warehouse Arts district and steps away from all of the fabulous hotels in those areas.

We arrived at mid afternoon hungry, but too late for lunch and too eary for dinner. Justin, who heped us at the door, gave us an invaluable tip. He told us that the restaurant Luke'swhich was a block away, has a happy hour with half-priced drinks and 50 cent oysters beginning at 3 PM. It was a perfect snack to hold us until dinner.

All of the staff at International House were unfailingly friendly, helpful and service oriented. We very much enjoyed the decor and ambience of the lobby and bar. The corner king room was great with tall windows wrapping around the room and a bathtub deep enough for a nice soak ( as well as a shower. I would request this type of room again.

Two of our old favorite restaurants --- Herbsaint and August --- are close by and top notch.

We would definitely stay at the International House even if it cost more. We consider it a bargain at the reasonable price we paid. The hotel definitely has a hip vibe but not so hip that we 60 and 70 year olds felt out of it. On the contrary, it made us feel comfortable --- and cool!

Room Tip: Request a corner king on a high floor

Loved it from the minute we entered. Big lobby with stunning decor and a fabulous feeling. The rooms are modern but overall the hotel has kept that vintage feel but just modernised it, if you know what I mean. Aveda products in the bathroom were a pleasant and welcome surprise as I hadn´t brought toiletries with me! Very nice room and quiet at night to sleep well. Location is good and a few minutes walk from the famous French Quarter. Staff were good especially the guy in the cocktail type bar. He´s a wizard at creating whatever you fancy! Loved it here.

This hotel is great for a few reasons: Room spacious and clean with comfy beds and good TV set with enough channels for everyone. Price was right. Staff are helpful and laid back. The hotel is close to everything you want.

Thank you to you other Trip Advisor Reviewers- I booked into the International House based on your recommendations and was very happy with the location, the Accommodations and the wonderful team of people working there. The fact that there is no restaurant was only slightly missed and more than made up for by the honest and well considered recommendations that the staff made. The bedding was very comfortable and the room size adequate for someone who did not plan on and did not spend a lot of time in the room. The location was perfect for moving in any direction easily and the neighborhood was very quiet. The work out room was well outfitted and the Bar was a great place to regroup at the end of day and meet interesting people. I look forward to checking out the sister location, the Loft, on my next stay.

Room Tip: I asked for a higher floor and don't be afraid to ask for away from the elevator, the floors do...

i came here for my birthday, my first time to Nola. the hotel is sophisticated and sleek. very interesting drink menu at the bar. the staff was very accommodating--helping my boyfriend surprise me with balloons, a cake, champagne. the rooms were very small but had a stylish decor--which i love. next time i would probably try to stay in a bed and breakfast in the heart of the french quarter just to be a little closer. but would definitely recommend this hotel. the staff recommended the ruby slipper for sunday brunch and we loved it!
