“Just lovely.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2012

I had a wonderful stay at the Bourbon Orleans. I came with 17 friends for a Bachelorette Party getaway during Essencefest 2012. The staff was incredibly helpful (yay for the two Kianas :) and the rooms were well-appointed. The location was great-- a little too good, in fact, because Cafe du Monde was only a few blocks away, and fed into my daily beignet habit.

On Bourbon Street, directly behind Jackson Square, this place definitely has location. And it's pretty. And the staff was nice. Room had a strange glass wall that only halfway separated the shower from the bathroom giving a nice overspray effect to the tile floor. Combined with a shower head that couldn't angle up (I'm 6'2", not *that* tall) and it was a lacking shower experience.

But the crowning note to this stay was the inability of the night staff to keep the hallways peaceful. Yes, I know it's NOLA and on Bourbon Street, but for the mega-clams this place charged, there should have been a imposing gentleman in a suit reminding guest that this was a hotel, not a strip club. Two nights in a row there were exceedingly loud hallway talkers/shouters. And not just at 3 a.m., but again at 4, 5, and 6! And as the noisemakers were traipsing towards the elevators, I'd assume they were visitors and not hotel guests.

Perhaps it was the tile floors, perhaps the large gap under the door, or even the Essence Music Festival attracted crowd, but I'm a *very* deep sleeper and to wake me takes a full-on brass band. This place provided that two nights in a row.

Thumbs down.

This was our first time in New Orleans and a special vacation (after months of long work hours!) for the two of us, so I did a fair amount of reading up on the hotels in the area. The Bourbon was everything it claimed to be and better. It's amazing that we stayed at a Bourbon St hotel (its on one of the cross streets) and not have to deal with the noise. The hotel itself is great- beautiful lobby, great pool, the rooms are very well kept and comfortable, and the staff is really helpful.I emailed ahead and asked for champagne on our arrival which Megan was able to materialize without a hitch. It really deserves a 5 rating but here are 2 small negatives we found: the hotel breakfast was delicious but it took some time to order and get things on the table so if you're in a rush its best skipped; the concierge wasn't there for a good 2 or 3 out of 5 days... Not sure if we caught him on his vacation (certainly deserved) but we ended up asking the front desk staff and bell boys for advice and they totally came thought!
I would highly recommend this hotel if you're looking for a great hotel experience in NOLA and we can't wait to come back!

Room Tip: If you don't want to be bothered with a lot of the Bourbon St noise ask for a room with a courty...

Great stay? Stayed at the hotel for the essence festival. Had a great time upgraded to the governor suite which was spacious and beautiful. Its at the back end of bourbon st which isn't bad. It not noisy and the area is decent.

First time to NOLA, so I picked this hotel because of its history, location and charm. We were not disappointed. Everything a first time visitor would like to see or do is walking distance. Beds were very comfortable and the rooms were just remodeled. It is a little noisy at night, but to be expected. Only two minor issues: they ran out of clean large towels on our second night so we had to use smaller hand towels to dry off. The housekeeper said there would be dry ones within 30 minutes, but we just used the small. Also would be nice for a small selection of a la carte breakfast items for on the go visitors. My 2 young daughters and I resorted to the breakfast buffet at the outrageous price of $65 after tip. We were off to a swamp tour early so we had to use this expensive option. Good, but not worth the price! The kids loved looking for ghosts, but no paranormal encounters to report! Would definitely stay again!

We booked this room for our stay during the essence festival. It was very nice. The staff was very hospitable and the bed was very comfortable. Would love to stay here again. The location was excellent and convenient to everything.

Room Tip: If you don't like much noise, get an inside room facing the pool. It was very quiet.
