“A step up”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2012

We enjoyed a quiet breakfast at this small place down at the end of St. Charles. You place your order at the walk-up counter and they bring the food to your table. The service was pleasant, friendly and helpful. The coffee was good but not exceptional. The breads (bagels, wheat toast) were quite a bit above average. The omelets were creatively designed and well executed. There are plenty of good grits and eggs places in NOLA but if you'd like something a bit different, a bit more genteel, this might be it.

“Delicious Breakfast! Fresh ingredients and you won't feel guilty eating the grits”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2011

Their breakfast is absolutely divine. For breakfast food that is typically fried (eggs, bacon, sausage), it doesn't seem like because it is not greasy at all. I had the Petit Breakfast - 2 eggs, andouille sausage, sour dough toast and grits. The grits were delicious - creamy and tasty. I looked around and noticed almost everyone ordered the grits. That's a great sign on how good they are. My friends ordered Breakfast Burrito (see pic), pankcakes and waffles. Each dish looked like such care was taken to cook the food and present it. My food cost about $15 (petit breakfast, pomegranate juice, coffee), which I think was a great value, especially for my tastebuds and stomach.

Things to consider: Try to get there early so you can get a table as the line builds up pretty quickly. We were lucky for a group of 7 and the employees were so helpful in organizing tables for us. The vibe of this place is you feel like your home and the people that work there are so friendly!

“OMG why is it sooo good?!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2011

Refuel Cafe represents one of the hidden gems of New Orleans. Tucked away on Carrolton Street, competing on the same block with the likes of the Camelia Grill, Refuel stands all on it's own. The food quality is phenomenal for the price. You can tell the owner puts a little bit of TLC into what he does. The atmosphere is the epitome of New Orleans, very relaxed, easy going a great place to start out your day. Never had a problem with service, and I've been to Refuel several times. They are polite, friendly, what you'd expect from that good ole southern hospitality. If you're a grits eater, they are off the chain. As a coffee drinker myself, I'm really addicted to how they make it. If I could bottle up refuel carry it around in my pocket and take it out when I was hungry, I completely would. Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone visiting New Orleans, and for the locals who haven't found it yet. Go! Go now!!

“Never Dissapointed!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2011

In a city with a thousand restaurants, its great to sample the various menu's, but where it comes to awesome food, grits that melt in your mouth, consistent high quality and just a generally happy pleasant place to be, Refuel is the best! And I love that the menu keeps the best things I always enjoys, but varies with new creations also and makes each visit a new experience to try something new. Keep it up folks!
