“Beautiful location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 days ago NEW

I'm a NOLA local and had a weekend staycation in the quarter. The location of the Hotel Royal in a lovely location in the heart of the quarter. It's on Royal and can be quieter than other locations. We had room 11 which is a 3rd floor balcony room. It's very spacious. The balcony is beautiful and a really nice place to sit relax and really enjoy NOLA for what it is. The hotel employees were also very police and friendly. Rooms have safes which I always look for. All white brick with dark hardwood floors make the room feel like a modern loft or condo vs a hotel room.

The bad of this room? It was not very clean. The hard wood floors were very dirty. I walked around in barefeet after a shower and the bottoms of my feet were black. The furniture is very stained and dirty. Especially the bench at the end of the bed. So full of stains I did not even want to lay my clothes or suitcase on it. Also, it was a $200 a night room with taxes and there were no amenities. No shampoo, no hand soap and only a very tiny garbage can in the bathroom. When we arrived at 4pm the room was not ready. I suspect house keeing rushed through it or just did not finish cleaning.

It's also not a hotel for anyone older of with bad knees. It's a 3rd floor walk up and the jacuzzi tub is very hard to step in and out of.

It is charming but think of it as a bare boned boutique hotel.

Room Tip: 3rd floor balcony rooms are worth the extra cost for a true NOLA experience.

Sandoclr,
Thank you for reviewing our hotel and for the mention of the great service you received throughout your staycation. I would like to personally apologize for any issues you may have encountered with the cleanliness of your guest room. As you can see from previous reviews, our hotel is not only known for its location – but its high level of cleanliness. These items are not taken lightly, and have been discussed with the operations team to ensure a quick turnaround and retrain of the staff member that serviced your suite prior to your arrival. We pride ourselves in allowing for as many early check-ins as possible, but not being able to provide your accommodations by our promised time is something that we will work to ensure no future guest has the same issue. We love to serve our local community, and I welcome you back for your next staycation. Please contact me directly should you have any questions. kmarrs@frenchquarterhotelcollection.com / (504) 944-2260.

This hotel was very clean and comfortable. My husband and I traveled to new Orleans for a small vacation and I had broken my ankle right before leaving and they went out of there way to accommodate us for the first floor instead of the second, where we were originally should have stayed. The hotel didn't have an elevator so this was a plus. The staff was very helpful in directing us to where the locals go and play and not just the tour attractions eveyone goes there for. The location was great and would recommend it to anyone if they want a historic feeling with comfort.

The romance package coupled with the Royal Balcony suite made for a scene straight out of her favorite romance novel . Couldn't be happier with the overly helpful and very accommodating sales coordinator named Devan Sprague, who went above and beyond to help make this New Orleans stay a magical exspericaence that she will absolutely never forget .

The location is great for walking to areas in the French Quarter. The hotel is quaint and historical. We stayed for 3 nights in a petite room - VERY small but clean and served our needs. Would not want to stay in this size room for a full week. A couple weeks before our vacation we called the only number we could find on the internet to make sure we could get a room on the first floor due to health issues. (NO elevators - many stairs even to second floor). We were assured it would not be a problem - however, upon arrival they had no room on the first floor for us and no notation of our request : ( The girl at the desk did not even apologize for the oversight. Perhaps it was the end of her shift because 2 days later when she saw us, she went out of her way to be friendly and help us in any way she could. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast not extensive but again more than served our needs. Also like that there is fruit, coffee, and available all day.

Just returned from New Orleans...3 night stay at Hotel Royal. The location, one block from Bourbon and walking distance to the market, Decatur St. and numerour bars and restaurants makes it ideal. The room was great with a comfy bed, large bathroon and very clean. Cute little centre courtyard with tables and fountain to sit outside and enjoy breakfast. The breakfast was ok...cereals, partries, fruit(oranges and apples), yogurt and granola as well as tea and coffee. All staff were very friendly and helpul. Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor room if possible...many stairs up to higher level rooms.

My husband and I were booked to stay at this hotel for the beginning of our honeymoon. We were a day late coming into New Orleans after having a cancelled flight out of DC. Tired and grumpy we arrived to an incredibly warm and helpful staff. Family had called to upgrade our room for a night at the end of our stay, but we were given the upgraded room for our entire 3-night stay, with a balcony and a bottle of champagne. The hotel is in a great location, and is very clean and quiet with a charming courtyard and modern rooms. On our last day it rained, and the front desk gave us an umbrella when he saw us leaving without one after breakfast. They also offered annotated maps of great restaurants and local favourite spots in the area. I can't say enough good things about this place. We'll definitely be back.

Great experience here! The hotel itself is beautiful and historical looking. The rooms were modern, clean and chic. Marble bathrooms, hardwood floors... The staff are fantastic - especially Eric and Ariana who were so helpful. Not an unfriendly person in the place! Our friends got the Royal Suite which was spacious and elegant with the large outdoor patio - sadly they only had one left so we took a regular? room since we could all just go wherever - but that suite was AMAZING and we definitely made use of the patio for some pre evening drinks and socializing! Our room was of normal size and spaciousness. The only issue, our air conditioner did not work. They sent someone immediately but it would not start. They did find an alternate room right away and even came with room keys and to move our bags within 10 minutes without us even asking, but we chose to just keep what we had as otherwise it was quiet and perfect. That decision was not the greatest as we did get hot, but somehow in the middle of the night when I got up to see if maybe by some lucky chance the air conditioner would start working ... it actually did! Very good location to everything you want to see! We will be coming back to New Orleans, and when we do we will be staying here once again!

Room Tip: The Royal suite with the large wrap around patio!!
