The hosts are fabulous - very welcoming and really make you feel at home. Also, they were very responsive throughout the booking process and provided excellent instructions about how to get there in the car. The pool - ah, this should not be underestimated! So lovely to return to after a day of sightseeing. The area - some great places to eat, all suggested in the excellent visitor notes provided in each room. Good air-conditioning. Honesty bar - love those poolside G&Ts. Breakfast - so, so good. Different and delicious every morning. Easy parking in the driveway. Memorable for all the right reasons!
The less great:
There is no getting away from the fact that it is a long walk into town...And that's from someone who walks an hour a day as part of my commute into work. The first day, we walked. The second, we drove halfway in and parked on the street (just outside the zone where they start charging). After all, New Orleans is a pretty warm place :) If your time is limited, I'd stay closer, despite the neighbourhood being really great to see and explore. The shower was really bad...seriously. Water pressure was very low and it was difficult to get a comfortable temperature - it was either way too hot or too cold. Understand it's an old house but I've stayed in plenty of older properties but none quite matched this shower!

The shower I can do something about! We have an on-demand hot water system so you should never run out of hot water. After reading your review, I sent my maintenance man upstairs to check it out. After some work (and a bit of cursing on his part!) we got it figured out. Wa-La a constant supply of hot water to the room; and a cocktail for the maintenance man!
I would like to address the location. People looking to be steps off of Bourbon Street should not stay here. There are plenty of big box hotels right there that would better meet the needs of that person. We cater to guests that are looking to avoid the t-shirt shops, and topless bars on Bourbon St. If that is all your seeing while in Nola, your missing out on so much! Don't get me wrong, I spend my share of time on Bourbon!
We are a 20 minute walk from the French Quarter, through two of New Orleans most historic and fantastic neighborhoods. Countless restaurants, jazz clubs, art galleries, beautiful architecture and unique people litter the streets between here and there! If you want to experience New Orleans for what she really is, staying in a place like this - off of Bourbon - is the way to go!
Trust me, if you don't stay at mine.... Stay at a different one and fall in love with Nola!
