“Very nice vacation thanks to you”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

My wife and I stayed at the House of the Rising Sun over the July 4th holiday. Kevin and Wendy are great people, very curious and kind. The bed and breakfast is very clean and each room has a personality of its own. The location is a short walk to a nice pub, restaurant, and a wine bar. We will definitely stay at the House of the Rising Sun again. They made our trip to New Orleans an enjoyable one.

After quite a bit of research, I finally decided on the house of the rising Sun. After a very simple reservation process, our plans were made for a three night stay. As we arrived, we were greeted by Boudin, the dog of the house, the most charming part of the home. The room was decorated in a slightly oriental motif, but was incredibly comfortable. While the bathroom is small, and requires a walk through a public area, the shower is great, and the Satchmo pic seals the deal!

Breakfast is a light affair, but perfect for a hot and muggy New Orleans day. A short fairy ride takes you into the heart of The French Quarter/CBD. Algiers Pointe is NO' s Bohemia, and while a quiet neighborhood, does not lack for charm.

All in all in excellent stay, Can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: The King Room was perfect for a romantic getaway. No Pool available.

Many thanks for the wonderful review! The bathroom situation for the Henry "Red" Allen room is given on our website and was also explained it again to you on arrival, and we do not advertize as having a pool, although my wife would love one :-) We look forward to seeing you next time.

We really enjoyed our stay at House of the Rising Sun. Our hosts were warm and accommodating and the breakfasts were pure deliciousness! This is a very cool part of New Orleans that we had never seen.

If you want to have an authentic New Orleans experience and feel at home while you do it, I strongly encourage you to spend a few days at the House of the Rising Sun in Algiers Point. It's only blocks away from the short ferry ride to the Downtown New Orleans and the French Quarter.

My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of staying at the House of the Rising Sun for a number of weekends over the past few months. We were living in Baton Rouge at the time and purchased a home in the Algiers Point neighborhood. One of my cousin's had recently spent a night at the House of the Rising Sun and said we should look into staying here. Kevin and Wendy were great hosts, they knew the ins and outs of New Orleans and offered us great recommendations on where to eat and find live music. Kevin also shared some of Algiers Point's history with us, as he is also President of the Algiers Historical Society. We had the most fun staying in the Algiers Point neighborhood and having a few pints at the local English Pub (The Crown and Anchor) and dining at Vine n Dine (local wine bar and bistro).

That first weekend was so much fun (yes, we did work on and check out our home renovations too) every time we returned to New Orleans to check on our house we booked the weekend at the House of the Rising Sun! (www.risingsunbnb.com) If your traveling and looking for an authentic New Orleans experience look no further than the House of the Rising Sun!

We were there 6 nights for Jazz fest. Accomadations were authentic. Kevin was great. Liked the small neighborhood feel of Algiers point. Would highly recommend. The whole New Orleans experience is excellent and we intend to return again and again.

Our third stay at the House for JazzFest and it just gets better. Kevin and Wendy are wonderful hosts and it's become like a second home for us.
The nearby Algiers ferry is an easy link to the Quarter and a pleasant way to travel. There was a cloud over the future of the service but it now looks like it will be retained, although it may not be free to pedestrians any more. Free or not, it's worth it to be away from the noise of the quarter but still conveniently located.
Getting to the Fest was a breeze on the Canal St tram.
Highly recommended.
