Although the location is a bit obscure, it is really a hidden treasure in the Garden District. Nice clean rooms that are nicely furnished. The only down side was the maid service. One day they finished after 6 pm, and another day they did not leave towels. The daily continent breakfast was quite good and the attendant was superb.

We stayed at the Prytania Park Hotel last year (in a "Charming Queen" room) and enjoyed it well enough, except for the tiny bathroom. The Prytania Oaks Hotel room we stayed in this year is far superior. We stayed in a king room on the front of the house and loved it. The room and the bathroom are quite spacious. The room includes a mini-fridge, microwave, ironing board & iron, hair dryer, basic toiletries, a flat-screen wall-mounted TV, an armoire w/clothes hangers (don't know if the hangers are standard - possibly left over from previous guest), and a safe for valuables.
Basic room service each day included making the bed and bringing fresh towels.

While this hotel and room was a more expensive choice than our previous stay, I'd say it's well worth the upgrade. While our previous stay was perfectly acceptable, this one was simply perfect.

We also enjoyed the breakfast service 2 of the 4 mornings we were there (we slept in a couple days). It's a great selection and a charming atmosphere, whether you choose to sit inside or out in the courtyard. If you sit inside, you can watch the news/weather on the TV in the breakfast room. On the morning we left, the breakfast attendant helped me to switch by tea from one of their beautiful china cups to a to-go cup so I could take it with me.

Note: Not your standard hotel, so don't stay here if you're expecting that. The Prytania Oaks is a short walk around the corner from your check-in site at Prytania Park. There is some parking at the Oaks, but a much larger lot at Prytania Park. Parking is free.

This old house converted to a hotel is in a great location if you don't mind walking a little. It is about 1 1/2 miles from the major downtown hotels, French quarter, etc. it is about half a mile from the old cemetery and the commanders palace nd magazine street shopping area. The people who work there are all very friendly a don helpful. The streetcar is just a block away but is currently under construction so not helpful (it is a bus until it gets to Louisiana street). If you like to run on vacation, this is a great place to stay.

My husband and I were attending a wedding in the NOLA Garden District, so decided to stay close by the wedding venue. The photography for their web site is breathtaking compared to what these "hotels" really look like. The lobby/check-in is located at the Prytania Park Hotel which services three hotels. The other two boutique hotels are the Prytania Oaks Hotel (where we stayed) and the Queen Ann. The check in area is cheesy with packaged snacks and water for sale. The Continental breakfast was dismal. Nothing was fresh unless you asked for a homemade waffle, which was also dismal. Our room in the Prytania Oaks Hotel was so small that we had a 2 to 4-foot walkway around three sides of the King size bed. Maybe a Queen bed would be a better fit? Could barely move around each other to get to suitcases and get dressed. The courtyard was unadorned--no flowers,etc. The price was $229 each night (Fri and Sat) and $119 for Thurs. nite.

On a positive note the place was clean. The bathroom was good with a nice shower although the sink did not drain and we had to request the repair.

Overall we loved New Orleans and would love to visit again but we would choose a different hotel.
