“Dream Wedding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2010

My husband and I had a small destination wedding in New Orleans. It was just the two of us and two other couples. We all stayed at the Henry Howard House and couldn't stop raving about what a perfect choice it was for us. John was a fabulous host. Upon arrival our suite had a chilled bottle of champagne waiting for us which was a really nice touch. We had the entire balcony to ourselves which we all enjoyed. The photographer kept on commenting how clean it was and she and her husband have seen their share of B&B's. We had stayed at the W our first night in New Orleans and we enjoyed staying at the HHH so much more. We are so glad that we opted to stay in the Garden District rather than the French Quarter. It felt like we rented our own beautiful, historic mansion. I would highly recommend this property. Whenever we return to NOLA we will be sure to stay here.

Beautiful house in a great location. Unfortunately, the bathroom was dirty, the service poor & the breakfast mediocre. The owner told us he had just purchased the business, so I guess he is inexperienced. It shows!

This is a great place to stay. The staff is very warm and accomodating. They held luggage (airline issue) for a day before we arrived. They allowed an early check in.There is plenty of parking. The location is one block from the St Charles stree trolley and within walking distance to a least 6 restaurants. It is quiet at night and a good neighborhood for a walk. Great breakfast atmosphere around a large table in high ceiling dining room.

WOW we did it again. This time for our Honeymoon.

We would recommend the Henry Howard House to anyone that wants a relaxed B&B in the Garden District. The House is located just one block off of the St Charles Trolley so you can to to the Zoo or the French Quarter with little effort. Also you can walk up to St Charles and take a few block walk either way to some good food and drink places. And of course if you are willing to walk 6 blocks or so you can go to Commander's Place one of the best places to eat in all of New Orleans.

Sherry your host is wonderful. She is very helpful not only in the B&B but in finding your way around New Orleans. Frankly, New Orleans is not an easy city to get around. With the River, Interstate Highways, and "strange" street and area of the city names.... it is a bit confusing. Sherry makes it easy for you. She also works with you one what you want for Breakfast. Hey if you don't want a heavy meal one morning, she will ask and all you have to do is let her know.

Henry Howard Houses has a lot of rooms (17 or so). So it would be wonderful for a wedding or all adult family event. A girls outting to NOLA would be great. The Garden District is a wonderful place to just walk around and if you want to do some shopping then it is not far way. Also the trolley makes it easy to get to the Quarter for all of the "it happens in NOLA" events.

We will be back. We would give it one of our highests recommendations.

We had a fabulous time in New Orleans for Jazz Fest 2008. We stayed at the Henry Howard House just outside the Garden District. The Garden District is lovely. The Henry Howard House is a short streetcar ride on the historic St. Charles Streetcar to the French Quarter in one direction and the beautiful Aububon Park in the other direction. We had a beautiful large room with high ceilings and antiques. The best part of the Henry Howard House was our hostess, Sherri. She was helpful and friendly. Her full breakfasts were fresh and delicious. We had fresh fruit every morning along with a breakfast meat (like bacon or sausage) and an entree such as pancakes, an omelet, or french toast. She even accommodated my difficult food allergy issue. She was fun and tried to make our stay in New Orleans special. It was special. We heard incredible music, had some of the best meals in our lives, and toured swamps, plantations, and the beautiful Garden District homes. Thank you to Sherri for a great time.

My boyfriend and I stayed here during our first trip together and first trip to New Orleans. With such a great price, we were not sure what to expect...we were thrilled! The room was beautiful, the "manager" was welcoming and helpful, and she made the most amazing banana pancakes! Highly recommended and will definitely go again if we have the chance.

A true hidden gem! This magnificent home is located in the garden district. It boasts 17 rooms and was designed by the renown architect Henry Howard. This has to be one of the most beautiful, clean, peaceful b&b's I have been to. The breakfast was delicious and the innkeeper was very accomidating. I will definitely stay here again and again.
