Description: Cochon captures the true essence of Cajun and Southern cooking. Chefs Donald Link and Stephen Stryjewski bring their love for southern Louisiana foods to every plate at Cochon. Donald's experience cooking with his family at their homes in Crowley and Rayne allow guests to share in his passion for real country and home cooking. The food is focused and simple, featuring roasted meats with natural sauces, homemade sausages, and fresh local seafood. The menu compliments the rustic, yet contemporary setting of the dining room. The Bar at Cochon features signature cocktails as well as the classic libations of New Orleans. A diverse beer selection with an emphasis on local micro-brews offers a cool contrast with the sometimes spicy cuisine.

“Cajun and Southern Cooking with an Artsy Flair”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

We ventured here on our last afternoon in NOLA and had an amazing meal--especially loved the grits and greens. They are, hands down, the best grits I've had in the South. The oyster meat pie was interesting; sweet potatoes with hog jowls and alligator bites were tasty as well. After 4 visits to New Orleans, this little find turned out to be one of our favorite restaurants in the city.

“Highly recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

Loved this place. It's basically a chill gastro-pub where they also cure all meats (head-to-tail style) in-house. I have to give a special shout-out to the duck pastrami sliders, but everything we ate (and drank) there was fantastic, and the atmosphere and service are also superb. Go here.

“Amazing lunch! Get there early!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

Absolutely delicious. We sampled a few things but I would go back for the pulled pork sandwich and Mac and cheese! Very small and we were there by 11:30am on a Saturday and there was a line the whole time. Just a few tables but they turned over quick! I would make it a point to go ack next time!

“Great sandwiches with top class cold cuts, pâtés, cheeses, plus beers.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

This remarkable sWine Bar (sic) sells cured meats, terrines, cheeses and nationally acclaimed sandwiches on a remote corner near the Convention Center.
It is part of a chain owned by James Baird award winning chef Donald Link who also runs the renowned Herbsaint and Cochon restaurants in the city,
We enjoyed a BLT ($9) crammed with excellent crisp bacon and then a large bun stuffed with roast beef – could have been pinker – with a light horseradish sauce ($11). They also serve mini-pizzas, sliders, muffalettas, desserts, cold beers and wine.

“Amazing food near convention center!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013 via mobile

If you are at the convention center skip the average over priced food offered in the center and walk over to Butcher. You will not be disappointed. I love their Cuban sandwich and king cakes.
