This was our second stay at the B&B and it was great again. I love parking out front (for free) and leaving the car for 3 days. We walk everywhere or ride the streetcar. They are great hosts and we start to feel at home. We raid the kitchen for snacks in the room or have breakfast outside, choosing from the many options offered. Schuyler is always available for advice or directions. Each room is comfortable with a private bath. Best of all, we can walk to the Palm Court Cafe for the best jazz in New Orleans.

Chez Palmiers came to our rescue more than once on our short trip to New Orleans. The city was sold out for a large convention, but the B&B organization came through with a referral. When we locked ourselves out late one night, our hosts graciously let us in. The place is located in a nice rehabed neighborhood with a local 24-hour restaurant a pleasant short walk away and a new Cajun restaurant across the street with the best seafood gumbo that I have tasted in a long time in New Orleans. Yes, New Orleans is back--big time, and Chez Palmiers made our stay even more memorable than usual.

My wife and I stayed here for three nights from Oct 26th through the 29th and found it to be a very affordable place near the corner of Rampart and Esplanade. Lets start with the things that my wife and I liked about Chez Palmiers. First off, David and Schuyler were terrific hosts who were very friendly and accommodating with us the entire stay. The house is a typical Creole house that you find in New Orleans that looks as it was built in the early part of the 20th century. The room that we had was the Blah Blah room and from what I heard from another couple it appears that this was the best room to have because it was central to the house. This room is easily big enough for two people with luggage and has a queen size bed and room to hang clothes as well as a luggage rack. You have your own bath room which leads into the breakfast area which makes for an easy way to grab a snack. From what I was told by our upstairs guests they had to walk down and around the house to get to the breakfast area in back so I was happy that we didn't have to because it was cold outside. Breakfast is what you would get at any BnB in New Orleans which is a mix of bagels, muffins and cereals plus milk, juice or coffee. Its against the law in New Orleans for BnB's to serve hot meals so if your wanting something else you'll have to go out for breakfast. Now this is an older house like I mentioned so like any old place the door knobs are kind of loose, the bathroom taps are quirky and they have things like window units rather than central air so be prepared for that. If your looking for a the kind of accommodations and services that you get from a hotel than you will be disappointed here. That is not meant to be an insult in any way to the BnB but rather fair warning to those who are used to staying in a hotel and expect certain things like made beds every day and fresh towels every day. The experience here is more like staying at a friends house for a few days rather than a hotel. I don't know about your friends but when I stay at mine they certainly don't make my bed for me.The house is very cozy and between the decor and the hospitality of David and Schuyler you get the impression that they are two friends who have put you up for the weekend. The neighborhood itself has some pluses and minus's as well. The street itself can be a little intimidating to those who aren't used to staying in a neighborhood as opposed to a central business area or downtown. The houses are older and there's some graffiti here and there but its no worse than any other major city. The plus is you are a block away from Esplanade St. and just north of the Frenchmen section. The Quarter is about a 10 minute walk down Esplanade so you don't need a car or a taxi to get to anything down there. If you do need a cab a walk down to the corner of Esplanade and Rampart is a great place to catch one since it is a major intersection and cabs go by all the time. There is a seafood place across the street that you can grab a po boy to go and Port o' Call is just around the corner so you can easily get food nearby. Over all the experience was good and my wife and I would stay here again.

We stayed in New Orleans for 4 nights on a Mother-Daughter roadtrip from Kalamazoo, Michigan. We found this B&B online and couldn't have been happier with our choice. David and Schuyler were very attentive, and helpful in making our trip more than we had hoped. The dining room was always stocked, and very inviting. The pool and deck area were also very refreshing for the warm afternoons. Due to David and Schuyler's recommendations, we went to some great local eateries, all within walking distance. We fell in love with the Marigny neighborhood, and especially with Chez Palmiers. We would definitely stay here in the future :-)
