“Very Affordable B&C (Bed and Coffee)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2011

We looked into staying here for our entire New Orleans visit but most rooms were booked up so we could only stay for two nights that had a vacancy and stayed a block away for a few nights at a B&B. We were very pleased with the Creole Inn. Some older reviews criticized it's cleanliness, particularly in one of the rooms, but we saw nothing to worry about at all. It was immaculate. The outside of the building is rather ordinary but the inside is nice and cozy and looks very nice.
I can only guess that it is often booked up since it is so affordable. Why? No breakfast for one and in some ways it might be somewhat more simple than fancy B&Bs that come with loads of bells and whistles. We were completely satisfied.
The Inn is in the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood that is directly east of the French Qtr. and the Inn was a handful of blocks into the Marigny. That helped to make it quiet for sleep. There are only five guest rooms and three are two room suites. Ours was Memories on the second floor and the room itself was small but we did not intend to spend much time in the room aside from sleeping. The bed was very good and the room had ample closet space, a dresser, chair, mini fridge,TV and radio, and a good bathroom. One reason we wanted to stay there was that it was as affordable as hostels but had the qualities of a nice B&B. Or B&C since there was no breakfast but they did offer coffee and hot water for making hot chocolate and a variety of teas in an entry room. There were places for breakfast a block or two away in the neighborhood and more along Frenchmen Street closer to the French Qtr. Frenchmen was also lined with clubs featuring music each evening.
Gayl was the pleasant manager. She offered to tell us about the neighborhood and to answer our questions about New Orleans. She provided a computer so that we could print off our boarding passes the day before we had to leave.
We felt safe walking through the Marigny in the late evening. We give the Creole Inn a very good recommendation, especially if you are looking for a quiet place to stay that is as affordable as you are likely to find in expensive New Orleans. Affordable, clean, and comfortable.

This inn in the historic area of New Orleans, just 4 blocks away from the French Quarter is a rare find. While not fancy, it reflects the authentic style of an historic neighborhood that is well maintained and safe. My husband and I walked home every night and never felt awkward. The management was very friendly and hospitable. If you are looking for something "real" instead of the sterile hotel/motel environment, this is for you. It is also very reasonably priced for the area.

This was a great place to stay. It had everything we needed: great beds, refrigerator, internet, coffee, TV, common area, back patio and helpful host. We were coming to New Orleans on a budget and so glad we found this place. It's located a 15 min walk from the French Quarter in an artsy residential neighbourhood. We rented a car and had free parking on the street.

We were met by Gayle, the Inn's host. She is down-to-earth, approachable and gave us tons of information for our stay.

The rooms are simple, clean and had everything we needed. The beds were amazing to sleep on.

If you're looking for a no-frills, clean, affordable get-away in New Orleans...this is it.

Thanks!

Creole Inn is a wonderful place to stay. Instantly you have the warm and welcome feeling that you are staying with old friends. If you want luxury, dont stay there, its not that kind of place. What it offers is the downhome feeling of staying in the South with everything you need close by. The rooms are lovely, plenty of space for 2 (in the memories suite), and a great location for Frenchman street, or a 10 minute stroll over to the french quarter. Wouldnt reccommend a rental car, you dont need one there and we thought it was a hassle to even have one. (which was also wisley reccommended by Gayl, the innkeeper, who is always available and so friendly.)
The coffee is ready when you get up in the morning, the price is amazing, and we can't wait to go back and visit again. We will definitely stay at the Creole Inn.

We loved staying at the Creole Inn.... Gayl was super friendly and helpful with insights into the local neighborhood. Our room was called "Memories" on the second floor. Room was cozy, with just the stuff we needed: super comfy bed, a mini fridge, and an abundance of fluffy towels, in a clean room. The courtyard is neat, with a huge live oak for a neighbor. It was nice to sit out there in the quiet, have a couple of beers and chill.
If you're not used to old houses, this may not be a place for you. This house is a great example of what the real houses look like in New Orleans: shows some sign of age, but still gloriously holding up with charm!
The neighborhood is fantastic and quiet, with easy walking to Frenchmen St. and the French Quarter. Gayl recommended a restaurant/store/laundry mat that was just a block away, called Schiro's. Fantastic food, with great New Orleans style ambience.
The Creole Inn is a definite must stay if you're wanting to have a holiday that's as un-touristy as you can get. We hope to go back soon!

Three of us stayed in the Cowboy Suite for one night and really enjoyed our stay. The beds were comfortable they had just put in a new sink in the bathroom. Gayle the in keeper was very nice and helpful about the neighborhood. The room was quiet and clean, plenty of hot water in the shower. I would stay there again for the money it can't be beat.

I would recommend the Creole Inn for anyone interested ina genuine New Orleans holiday. The Inn was charming, the furnishings lovely , the beds outstandingly comfortable. Gayl, the innkeeper, was happy to help us with information and any service we needed.
